Hey everyone!

Sorry I didn't post earlier... had a training thing for work today that was out of town, then went straight to softball (was almost late... which would have forced my team to forfeit!), where I played 4 straight games. I'm tired and my legs are good and sore! It's midnight here, and I'm thinking I may not run the 5K at 8am. We'll see when I wake up... I may just go and walk it. If not, the weather here this weekend is going to be GORGEOUS, so i'm thinking it might be nicer to go for a more leisurely jog each day in the park. Definitely not days to be on the treadmill.

Still praying for recoveries for everyone, from Paula's sister, to Sharon's foot, to Cassie, and everyone else I've missed!

FedUp-- congrats on the weight loss! I tried the cauli-mash once. I wasn't a huge fan. I'd much rather have my cauliflower roasted in the oven. Yum!

Doing well with exercise... got in an hour on the treadmill last night, then softball was pretty active tonight. Food doing pretty good, though today I couldn't believe how easily I fell into an old habit... had lunch at Panera and ordered my half-green tea/half lemonade (both sweetened!) without even thinking about it! Doh!

Okay, here's my meals for the past 2 days!

Thursday
B: egg w/turkey smoked sausage and sundried tomato pesto, V8, vitamins
MS: yogurt w/fruit
L: mexican chick/veg soup, milk
AS: pistachios, string cheese, 15 kashi crackers
D: soup w/dollop of yogurt, glass of milk
ES: applesauce cup

Friday:
B: egg mcmuffin, milk, V8, vitamins
MS: string cheese, pistachios
L: Panera-- black bean soup, greek salad (dressing on side), baguette (not whole grain... forgot to ask!), tea/lemonade
AS1: yogurt w/berries
AS2: apple
D (late): Wendy's-- southwestern salad (comes with small chili) w/ancho chipotle ranch, milk
ES: maybe an applesauce cup or a mini pita (or both!)

Hoping everyone has a happy, beautiful weekend!
Talk to you soon!

Good morning, (or good night to some of you!) cjmeller - your last post was at 8.07 am my time - i had been for my walk and had my brekkie already and this is the amazing part had already started to swat for my next exam! (because internet was not working, but now it is I am distracted by doing a quick post!) anyway few things to comment on.
cjmeller , i am in awe of your rigourous exercise regime! i was thinking, on my rather more sedentary walk, this a.m. that you must measure yourself - just incase your muscles are preventing you from seeing huge losses on the scale..... but i bet when you measure you will be thrilled at the results of your dedication and commitment. this weekend is my time to measure (i will do it monthly) - although i have not been nearly as active as you, i am hopeful there will be a difference.
paulab, hope your sister is feeling better, of course you would be drained, sending you lots of positive energy, although you seem to make lots of your own! i can imagine this whole thing has indeed been very emotional - she is your sibling and while you may be very different (I do not know, but it sounds like you could be) it still brings you closer to your own mortality don't you think? parents are one thing, but when your own siblings or friends have life threatening health issues it is scary. i am not sure i mentioned three weeks before i started SBD a friend of mine (38 - my age) died of a heart attack. It was such a shock. anyway, moving on to lighter topics. enjoy charles and camilla's visit. i know she has had bad rap but i am kind of happy for them that they have found such happiness in each other. i also think charles has been a wonderful dad to his boys (not that P Diana did not have a lot to take credit for!) but I also like charles' awareness of the environment and I think his botch ups are hilarious (with the media) . one more thing paulab, i read on anotehr thread your story about losing 100lbs before you were 40. omg, did you ever post your while story on this thread because if so i missed it before. it was so inspiring and just what i needed to read - approaching 40 myself pretty soon. (another thing me and prince charles share is our birthdays - 14/11 :D ) - i will be 39 this year.. so let me also commit to being at my goal before I hit that milestone. should manage it! i have given myself some time  when you have 3 x 3 for brekkie, what is that?
Fed up - well done YOU! so thrilled to hear of your success, keep going. soon you will have to change your name! i do not mind the mashed cauli, you can jazz it up with yoghurt, spices, garlic or whatever, not sure how they recommend doing it on this board, but try different ways to find the taste that suits you and is SBD friendly. I also chop up cauli really finely and steam it to eat with curries in place of rice. again I am a fan, husband not as convinced!!
Sharon O - i am pleased in spite of all the adversities (or if not as bad as that, you are going through some tough times with your feet and feline) you are still posting. we are all here for you, rooting for you and sending you love!
Teacher Sue, I bet you are exhausted at the end of a week, have a happy restful weekend. Are you a special needs teacher, i do not know why i think you are? Littlies or biggies? I keep meaning to ask. I am sure you have told us somewhere.
Cindyt and Ommani, if you ever swing by , do pop in and drop us a line.
That is all now. Have a great weekend to you allxxx

'morning all, just a very quick note as I'm rushing out the door to an early bird scratch and save sale at Sears. Doesn't anyone else complain (like I am) about where SOME of the weight comes off? Redrox--don't read the next bit Yes, there is a bra sale and I'm in great need. Has anyone found a way to get the fat to leave the HIPS instead of the girls? I'd buy ANY pill that could make that promise. Anyway not my favourite kind of shopping but it must be done. I'll check in later complete with my meal plans and the recipe for 3x3. Cheers ~ P

Good morning, almost afternoon all. We're finally getting moving this morning. Late breakfast is over and now need to fill our bird feeders and clean up my herb garden which is half dead from the frost. We have a beautifully blue sky and not too cold day which is fabulous. This evening DH and I are going to a ballet in a small theater where apparently you are very close to the dancers. Looking forward to it.

The scale finally moved in the right direction today so my renewed determination seems to be having an effect. YEAH! Was asked about my PT torture. There was quite a selection of exercises which I had to do but by far the worst was the platform board. They have this flat oval board about 1 1/2 ft x 1 ft to which they attach a half ball on the bottom. You have to stand with the injured foot on the board and move your weight first back and then forward to touch the edges (OK but not great) then to the right and to the left (OUCH) and then circle around the outer part of the platform. And the worst part is that I was only on the second smallest ball so we have a long way of torture ahead for me. It does seem to be moving in the right direction though. Less to almost no pain in the morning and yesterday was less pain later in the day.

We were not great fans of the cauliflower pseudo mashed potatoes. It wasn't bad, just not potatoes. Would also prefer the roasted cauliflower.

Cassie continues to spend most of her day running or hiding from us. Just doesn't seem to be a great way to live so we're in serious thoughts about taking her out of her misery. Her next visit back to the vet is Monday and I'm not encouraged by much of anything.

MP today:
B - ww bagel with smoked salmon, light cream cheese, cucumber and tomato
MS/L ??
AS - PB and celery
D - green thai curry with leftover pork roast, roasted cauliflower and brown rice.

gosh, it is a busy weekend, I'm going out the door shortly to do my run around the lake with a friend. Doghouse, here is my recipe of 3x3. The originator is joesuzzi, I've modified it slightly for more 'spice'

Breakfast 3 x 3 ‘ s:

This keeps in the fridge for 9 days easily....and you can also freeze them for later use.

4 whole eggs and 7 egg whites
1 10 oz pkg or a tin of chopped spinach
1 tsp salt/pepper to taste/chili pepper flakes?
2/3 C. Low fat shredded cheese (mozzarella?)
1 can mushrooms or artichoke hearts or asparagus or?
1 sm. can black olives (or green...or both)
6 slices Low Fat Cheese Swiss/Colby/Provolone or whatever you like)
1 tomato sliced on top
*
Hand stir the eggs and egg whites, drain the spinach and mash as much water out of it as you can, then break it into small pieces and add to the eggs.....mix with a fork until the spinach is well blended. Add salt and pepper
Add the cheese, mushrooms (or any other veggie you like) and olives & stir lightly.
Pour it into a glass 9X9 baking dish greased with EVOO and bake about 30 minutes @ 350 degrees (until the middle starts to set). Remove and lay the cheese slices on top. Back into the oven for
about 10 minutes (or until the cheese starts to brown slightly.)
Cool and slice into 9 pieces. Each piece is 3" X 3"....hence the name, 3X3's . Enjoy !

*

Afternoon all. I'm hoping you all have good weather and that's why you're not indoors at your computers. We have an absolutely gorgeous day here. Blue and just a touch cold. DH and I went for a walk in a new park which was a litte hilly. I tried to take it very slowly particularly on the uphills which are what hurt the most. So far I'm not doing badly but still more of the day to go. Cassie seems to be coming out of hiding so maybe the vet will have pleasant news tomorrow. I really hope so.

Todays MP:
B -- very late 1 egg, WW toast, sliced tomato, sauteed mushrooms
L - kiwi, hummus, 1/2 WW pita
AS - celery and PB
D - beef filet, bulgur wheat with mushrooms and onions, roasted cauliflower, grilled asparagus

Good morning everyone. Just want to let you know that I have decided to post my whole week's menu in my journal, that way i can look at it and review the whole week. I will not repeat it so just to let you know I am still eating  . Right, remember I was so happy about my 1.6 kg weight loss last week, I had broken the 300g weekly loss barrier I was facing. NOT . Yes, that is right, this morning I got on the scale and hello 1.2ish kg - so actually here is the predictable part of my weight loss. 300g loss per week. So let me get my calculator to tell you how many weeks until my goal weight.....(I have exams, what I am doing is really wasting time  ) 100 weeks! arrgh, i am going to be fat at forty!!

Jokes aside, I have been really doing quite well , it must be muscle weight! Sure, I could cut down on portions a bit, sure I could forgo my glass of dry white low alcohol wine every evening, sure i could do one hour of exercise every day, sure i could try revving things up by going back to phase one for a week. But in my view, I have made really positive steps and the way I am behaving is so much better, so much healthier and so much more manageable in the long run. so let me be happy with my 300g weekly weight loss. I am here for the long run(make that a slow jog!)! lovely day to you allxxxx

Morning. Well the scale moved to the left. A whopping 1/4 pound for the week. Given that things were a bit out of control for most of the week I supposed I should not be unhappy. DH said he gained my 1/4 pound. doghouse, obviously things are going slowly here too and I was so encouraged early on. We will eventually get to our goal weights. It's just not going to be a quick thing but hopefully we will learn new things along the way. Later this morning I have the vet appointment with Cassie and then this afternoon I have PT (stands for painful torture).

DH and I have been working on menus for Thanksgiving week because we have my mom here starting Monday for dinner, my daughter and hopefully my son here starting on Wednesday for dinner. We're negotiating the actual Thanksgiving menu cause DH doesn't want anything too radical. So the plan is to make the turkey on the BBQ which we do every year (add wood chips to make it smoked), our standard sweet potato dish substituting agave for the small amount of maple syrup in the dish and replacing the brown sugar in the pecan streusel topping with splenda brown (which has splenda and real brown sugar). That dish is still off limits for me because of the butter but I'm fine skipping it. We're going to make stuffing with WW bread that I toast into cubes and the rest of the dish is just fine: eggs, celery, onion, egg and lots of chicken broth. Also going to make the brussel sprout dish which we tried last week and some other veggie and cranberries made with Agave instead of sugar. Dessert will be a pumpkin pie which I don't eat anyway and an apple crisp with olive oil streusel I found on Kalyn's blog. Should be quite an experiment.

MP: steel cut oats, a few pecans, V8
MS: hummus and red pepper
L: leftover veggies and leftover filet
AS: celery and PB
D: feta and sun dried tomato stuffed chicken breast, zucchini with tomatoes and oregano, spaghetti squash
SW 203
CW 185
goal 150 mini goal 180

‘morning everyone, well my scale is still moving to the left also but oh so slow, slow, slow, This week it was ¾ of a pound. I’m very happy. :) Slow and steady will win the race. At this rate, it looks like I’ll be SB Phase 2 for at least another 28 weeks, that takes me until June 2010. Wait a minute, SB is a way of life so really it isn’t 28 weeks; it is FOREVER. People are noticing the changes in me. Some are asking me questions about nutrition and the biggest craze in the office right now is the steel cut oats. Everyone has some! We’ve found a good source, 840 grams (1.85 pounds) for $3.29.

Another Wet Coast day, heavy rain and wind warnings. After parking my car that extra block away, I was very glad I was wearing water roof shoes. The roadways were streaming water and the fallen leaves were slowing down the drains. What a mess. Oh, my umbrella blew inside out, my black trousers were rather damp and my handbag was soaked through by the time I made it to the office.

Meal plan for the day:
B last slice of 3x3
MS: steel cut oats
L: lentil bean chili w quinoa
AS peas and hummus
D: chicken roll ups and Doghouse roasted veggies

Happy Monday to everyone!

Grey day here in KC. Wishing I could just curl up and take a nap!

Weekend was okay. Saturday was really hard for me foodwise. I started great, but then I went to sonic and ordered a route 44 diet sprite with lemon and cherries. They put some sort of sugary syrup in it too. It didn't taste right, but I drank it anyway. OMG, my body went all craving crazy! I mostly kept it under control, but it was really a struggle!

Yesterday, went yoga for the first time in a couple years. I am feeling it today, but in a good way! I'm going to start going twice a week.... I think it will really help my back and shoulders, and also will help keep my legs limber with all the cardio I'm doing. I've been watching The Biggest Loser, and it has me totally motivated! If they can do it, so can I!

Got the new chairs for my dining room, and spent a good deal of time getting stuff together to put into storage. My house is slowly but surely becoming much less cluttered.

Looks like thanksgiving will be just me and my sister this year. I'm going to do a huge turkey (dark meat and bones to make a huge batch of turkey stock, which will be great for soups, stews, etc.). Amanda also wants stuffing, cranberries, and gravy so we can make "day after thanksgiving sandwiches." She prefers those to the thanksgiving meal itself!

Weight is the same as last week. Had dropped a pound, but went back up late last week. I took my measurements today, but left them at home, so I'll plug them in tonight. I think I had some success there... I hope!

Saturday's Meals:
B: 2 eggs, big handful of spinach, cheddar cheese, 1/2 avocado, ww tortilla, rice milk
MS: none
L: bite of Amanda's burger, banana
AS: that darned soda!!
D: box of prepackaged indian food (veggies), 1/2 c. brown rice, diet 7up, v8
ES: applesauce

Sunday's Meals:
B: same as day before plus a spoonful of sundried tomato pesto (from Aldi... SO good on the eggs!)
MS: none (breakfast was at like noon!)
L: none
AS: none
D: subway buffalo chicken flatbread (sister works at subway... i got the hookup!), milk
ES: nsa chocolate pudding w/frozen cherries (from Costco, they are great!) and (too much) sf cool whip

The cherry chocolate pudding is a keeper! May try to make a sf cherry pie using splenda and white ww flour for the crust.

Have a great week, everyone!

I'm still out here yall! Just been a crazy weekend even though I exercised saturday morning and again this evening. Friday I was stressing because thursday night someone went into my car overnight and stole my purse and left it in the trash at a nearby gas station. They took my credit cards and band cards. The sheriff was knocking on my door at 2am with my purse and its remains. I had forgot to lock my car door that night and forgot to bring in my purse becausse I left it in the car thinking that I was going back out to the gym that night but I didn't because the realtor was here until late. I think that I stopped everything before any damage was done. They only took my purse leaving my gps, computer and mp3 player still in the car. I was thankful that they didn't take those things. I thought that our neighborhood was safe and crime free but I guess that I was wrong. I had to run around all day friday cancelling things. I have still managed to eat good. I really need to go shopping because I have been running out of things. Right now I have no more eggs. I love eggs. It's really late and I had to post but now I'm going to bed. I wonder what happened with Cassie?
