talk to me about sour cream

Postby J&L's momma » Mon Oct 06, 2008 7:12 pm

Why can we only have 2tbls in P1?

Ain't nothing better than veggies in a sour cream ranch dip! (Hidden Valley Dry Ranch Dip packet mixed w/16 ounce of Daisy Light Sour Cream) I really hope this is "ok" b/c it's the only way I can eat my raw veggies.

Thoughts??

If I have more than 2tbls can I count it towards my milk intake??
I'm not asking you to help me cheat I promise ;)

Because it's a condiment? It's calorie dense. maybe higher in saturated fats? Because that's the guideline?

No you can't count it as dairy/milk/yogurt. Nutritional properties are likely different which is why they are in different categories.

you can eat cooked veggies too. ;)

you can also blend cottage cheese in a blender or hand blender and have a great texture for a dip. I like Ranch made with cottage cheese and/or plain yogurt

It wasn't at all. It was just a restatement of the phrase, "if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got..." in the post above that. It was a response to that particular post as just another way of saying the same thing.

My response to your original question was under your original question.

what's in the hidden valley ranch dip, anyway? that isn't likely to be SBD friendly! ;)

what i used for dip sometimes in P1 was laughing cow onion-flavored cheese; it tastes a lot like onion dip to me.
the answer is: you need more veggies.

I use FF plain yogurt that I drain overnight in coffee filters so that its thick and cremy. Its tangy enough to be a wonderful sub.

I have just begun SB and am using a very old copy of the book. In it Plain FF yogurt is acceptable, but on the food list at this site it states yogurt is a no no. Am I okay using FF yogurt? I did lose 7 # the first week.

Yes, the plain yogurt is fine-- make sure to use the lists in the FAQ rather than the ones in the tabs at the top-- we don't have any control over that content, unfortunately.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.
