Rules of the forum and other info you should know

Postby babice » Fri Jan 21, 2005 5:13 pm

Rules of the SB Diet Forum
From the site administrators:

"The rules are simple, no flaming, trolling, profanity, racist remark, spamming and advertising...etc. If [the moderators] find any unsuitable posting [they] are allowed to edit, delete or move to appropriate forum."

Just thought this would be helpful. The moderators can and will "...edit, delete or move to appropriate forum" if it appears necessary. We also reserve the right to delete any avatars that are deemed too wide for reasonable viewing of posts for the community. Please do not link your ticker image into your profile avatar.

Missing Your Post?
Here's the deal if you are missing a post or it is not where u placed it, it is MOST likely because a moderator has put it in the correct forum. Look in the other forums before restarting the same thread. We will delete anything we see duplicates of. Remember these are all steps that need to be made to keep this forum clean and in order for all of you to read and use for help.

Questions?
Remember, not all of us moderators are always in the forum. But, you can send all of us a private message and someone will eventually do something.

Phase 1 Forum
This is a "phase 1" forum, which means it is for folks in phase 1 who would like to chat with each other and share experiences. There aren't people monitoring this forum to see if there are questions that need answering. It is just a bunch of folks who are in phase 1 together.

If you're not getting an answer to a question, try posting it on the Southbeach Diet forum. Now, we don't encourage you to post any question in two or more places....clogging up the forums by doing that. You should try to get your question answered in one post first. But, phase 1 only lasts 2 weeks so it's possible the people who could answer your questions are either on the phase 2 forum, or in the Southbeach Diet forum.

Thanks and good luck on the Beach!! :P

I'm not a moderator, but I just wanted to add a helpful note about how to find your post if you can't remember where you posted it, or in case it was moved:

  1. Click on "SB Diet Message Boards Forum Index" at the top or bottom of the page.
  2. You are now on the Forum Index page. Click on "View your posts" on the right, somewhat near the top of the page.
  3. This brings you to a list of your posts, organized by Forum and Topics. You can click on the topic name to see the full topic and read any replies that may have been given.

I hope that is helpful! With more areas here, it definitely gets confusing sometimes to remember where you asked a specific question.

P.S. Clicking the following link should allow you to skip instructions 1 & 2: View your posts

A troll is someone who posts something on a message board for the sole purpose of getting people riled up. They choose a stance or a topic that is sure to get some heated reactions.

The best way to react to a troll is to ignore them. If they don't get a reaction, they go away.

Been awhile, but yes, they do exist and we have had our share in the past.

Wickipedia wrote:An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]

Is there anyway to find out or be notified when youreceive an answer to your posts?

Try this: go to your "user control panel". there is link in the light blue area on the left side under the main dark blue banner at the top. Click on the Board Preferences tab and then click on the "Edit posting defaults on the left hand side. Change the default for "Notify me upon replies by default:" to "yes" and click "Submit" to save the changes. I believe it sends the notification to the email you used to sign up with when you first joined.

Alternatively if you don't want to receive a notification on every topic/post, but only certain ones, then use the "Options" tab underneath the text box where you compose your replies and initial topics. If you leave the global setting above to "No" then you can check the box/option underneath the text box area that says "Notify me when a reply is posted" and it will only affect that particular topic. Alternatively I am guessing you could set the default to "Yes" and uncheck the box for only those you don't want to get a notification. Depends on which you see yourself doing more of I guess! ;)

i got to day 12 on Phase 1..... now what?

Postby mollyco » Sun Nov 07, 2010 7:08 pm

hi, i'm not even sure how to post a question...?
I was so good the first 12 days on Phase 1, then left town with my boyfriend and prematurely abruptly ended the diet, wine in the evening, toast in the morning....
Now i feel kind of lost, i want to continue the diet but i'm not sure if i should try to go back to Phase 1, or just graduate prematurely to Phase 2....?
any suggestions please?

The best way to post a question is to go to an appropriate discussion area, and click the "New Topic" button. Your question will start a new discussion topic. Just give it a title, type in your question, and post. If you've posted in an area where you're not likely to get responses (for example, if you posted a phase 1 question in the "Exercise" discussion) a moderator may move it.

A couple of other things to be aware of. First, lots of questions have been answered many times, so it's a good idea to check the FAQ "stickies" at the top of the page before posting a question. Also, you should post in only one place. You have posted basically the same question in three different areas, and are inviting three different sets of responses. I'll delete one of your other posts to help fix that.

I don't see anything on the webpage that says "SB Diet Message Boards Forum Index" anywhere. Did find "Board Index" but nothing that says "View your posts." When I tried the link in your PS note, I got a message that said "Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system."

That post is from 2005, and is discussing a function the board no longer has. The best way to view your posts (that I know of) is to use the search function in the upper right hand corner, and enter your board/member name. (This won't work very well for people whose member name is commonly used in people's posts, and it's worthless for moderators because our names are on every page.) It's not ideal, but it's the best way I know of.
