SBD Phase 1- restart July 1st- Join in!

Postby peudetomate » Thu Jun 28, 2012 4:22 pm

Contribute your SBD ideas & recipes & hints....New restart to SBD...hope you will join in :D

Hello everyone!

I hope a few of you will join into this thread...I am a re-start to SBD from more than a year ago. Admittedly, I was an epic failure. I did well the first few weeks, stuck to the plan, lost weight, felt better...and then made a fatal mistake; I tried to stay in phase one longer, hit a plateau, got discouraged and reverted to my old habits! Uggh!

here I am, pretty much the same weight

I intend to start the first week of July. I know 4th of July week is not a great plan, but I had this past week off allowing me time to reread SBD Supercharged and look up some recipes. I have found some good information and some new ideas. I will plan better this time. Planning is a big goal.

I probably won't list every single thing I eat; I think that is boring to see as an entry time after time...But is very helpful if one hits a rut. Good if it helps to keep on track. Etc. So, I may eat these words. (hey, what phase are words? lol!)

I am trying to find a desire for the gym. This is very difficult for me. At the very least, I want to walk on my break at work daily. This is a goal.

My first glass of water will be drank before I get out of bed. Goal.

I am involving my house-mate this time which is different; I was trying to do this all on my own before. Last night I made grilled eggplant pizzas with low fat provolone cheese, turkey pepperoni and peppers. It went over so well the leftovers were heated up for dessert instead of a sf fudgesicle.

I will include ideas that are helpful to me, and good recipes, etc. I hope you find some of this helpful. Would love reciprocation.

There are fantastic recipes on kalynskitchen.com ...she is on my favorite bar. She made her pizzas with zucchini, but I couldn't find a large diameter one, so substituted the eggplant. She uses a lot of fresh herbs. I put an herb garden is yesterday. Took literally only 20 minutes. Three bags of soil & several potted herbs into the yard. Everything will be wonderfully flavored through the summer and I will dry herbs for the winter
Check her out. Yumm!

Idea and a recipe: One problem I have is that I love a large amount of salad dressing. So, I have two recipes, Tzatziki sauce (made with Greek yogurt) and an Avocado dressing. The avocado (1/2) is just blended with buttermilk salt & pepper & lemon juice. (and some skim milk if it gets too thick, this makes a large amount!). Tzaziki is on kalynskitchen.com

I can use more of these. I would rather just add a drizzle of EVOO or add avocado or nuts with the Tzatziki sauce than less of another dressing to get my fats. I usually come up short on my dairy, so this is a win win for me. I have also been known to extend ranch dressing with butter milk or skim milk. If you are finding you don't have enough to cover that really big salad to get all your veggies try these ideas. Let me know if you are finding this helpful.

I have been eating phase 3 all week with the exception of a very few add-ins in small amounts...after all I was on vacation! ....but really, I know that shouldn't be an excuse! just trying to get a mind set.

So, here i go. here is to the first 10 pounds going. Here is to - I am going to feel great and going to be more healthy with more energy! Here is to all of our success!!

It seems like you are either hoping to start a group or use this as a journal. (The only difference between those is focus - a group is focused on more than one person, while a journal is mainly written by one person even though others also contribute.) If you'd like this post moved to "General Chat" or "South Beach Diet" or "Journals" just respond in a post and one of the moderators can do that for you.

There is already a whole recipe discussion area. While you're free to post recipes wherever you want to, my suggestion would be to post in the recipe area so that other people can find them. People do recommend or discuss already-posted recipes in their journals or groups, though.

Best of luck to you! :)

SBD Phase 1- restart July 1st- Join in!

Perhaps the title is misleading; maybe I can change that.

No journal. Just starting phase one and would like to connect with anyone starting around the same time. That is all. So, phase one seemed appropriate.

thank you for your support

OK, sounds like you intend this to be a group. If you want to, the discussion can be moved to the phase 2 area after your group transitions to phase 2 - just post here (and send a PM to a moderator if you don't get a response at first) and one of us can do that for you.

Best of luck to you and your group! :)

I started today instead of the first of July...so far, so good. I even went to the gym for a short time.

Dinner was a baked eggplant casserole and brocolli, very yummy for diet food!

hope everyone had a great SB day !

Hello-hello! I started SBD on 2nd of July, feeling good, i dont have much lbs to loose (more or less 10) but already feel very well without sugar. Usually i crave all kind f sweets from chocolate to marshmallow, so i even surprise myself! I try to be phisically active, however with such a heat outside.....Phase 1 really rocks, i see, that my skin improved eversince, i used to have adult acne! Unexpectedly good results!!!Too bad, that dry fruits are not allowed, but lets hope it wont be an obstacle:-)
Greetings to everyone

I totally agree...except I have a lot more to loose, lol! I am not a gym person, but I did join a cheap local one and it is air conditioned. I don't mind hot, however, some of the days recently have been oppressive! and this helps. I hope your 10 pounds comes right off for you! :D

Welcome to SBD! :D Reading the book is a good idea. You can read the book in an afternoon or two if you have the time. But you can find an incredible amount of the information on-line. This site has some really informative threads even though they start many years ago. I have spent quite a bit of time there.

I have not been perfect since 6/30, but I am down 4 pounds, yeah! Some difficulties I am having are #1 getting my dinner portion of veggies...I just don't seem to want that volume of food at night anymore, which is really good in a way. Also, I do still struggle with dairy...doing better with the discovery of Greek yogurt..luv it!

I tried Soccas- here is the recipe, just mix 1 c chickpea flour, 1 c water, 2 tbsp EVOO. let sit 1 hr, cook like a crepe. Today I am going to thin it down more with water and try to get it to crisp like a cracker. I think herbs would be good added. I actually had a sliced turkey sandwich using this and it was pretty good!

Have a wonderful day guys! Let me know what it working for you :D
