SB diet and diabetes

Postby ispytatiana » Wed Jun 20, 2012 10:41 pm

Hello! I've just started on phase 1 and I'm really excited about it! I'm currently coupling the diet with walking to work (~3 miles /1hr walking each way) I have type I diabetes, and since my diagnoses with it a few years ago, I've generally had to take really high doses of long and short acting insulin. In just the few days of phase 1, I've noticed I've drastically cut back on how much I take. I am also concerned that any weight I lose my not be due to my dieting, but on the cutting back of my insulin.

Is this normal? Has anyone else seen this change? Or should I bring this up with my PCP?

Thanks everyone! :D

There is a link between this type of eating and insulin levels, which is why it's so helpful to people with type II diabetes, pre-diabetes, and similar metabolic disorders. Type I is different, as you know. I would definitely recommend being in touch with your doctor to monitor your medication levels and make sure this is okay for you.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.
