Anyone starting on 11/07?

Postby BackOnTheWagon on Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:37 pm

Hey all! I'm a 25 year old mother of one from Florida. I started SB back in the beginning of the year at 222 pounds and very quickly got down to about 155. (About 7 months or so.) I've since gained back 10 or 15 pounds  I want to lose about 30 pounds, maybe 40 but i'll see when I get there. I'm starting back on Saturday, 11/07/09 and wanted to know if anyone else was going to be starting then. I could use the support! I've found that eating right isn't very difficult (actually very easy after the first week or so), but I have absolutely no motivation to exercise. :? So anyone else want to join me on this journey?

I'll start fresh with you :) I joined southbeach several months back and was doing very well, but the stress of a big move, a long time planned vacation and summer with my kids over took all my newly established good habits and I ended up gaining some lbs back. Right now I'm sitting at about 147-148 and ideally I'd like to get back to 135 and re-assess then if need be. I might choose to lose another 5-10 lbs after that or just maintain. I'm 5'5, single mother of 3 very active kids lol I've been really wanting to get back on the band wagon but just haven't pushed myself yet. I also had jaw surgery 8 weeks ago, so am still recovering, but have been given the go ahead to resume exercise which is great. The eating part for me, will have to be tailored a bit as my jaw is still healing and I can't enjoy raw veggies yet. What types of exercise do you plan to do? I find the starting is hard, but after a few days you start to look forward to it because you know how much good its doing. It's the starting part lol

Lol, yeah I just can't seem to get started on the exercise routine. I've tried almost everything. I think I'm gonna stick to jogging... it's the only thing I can seem to stick with. I just hate to exercise. Even after I've been doing it for weeks or months! What about you? I'm sure chasing after 3 kids can be exercise enough! It seems that we are going for the same goal. I also am 5'5" and want to get to about 130 or 140, all dependent on how I look and feel. My plan is tailored a bit as well - I don't eat any meat besides seafood. What do you plan on having tomorrow? This is what I thought about:
Breakfast: 2 eggs with cheese and mushrooms and one Morning Star "sausage" link
Snack: mozzarella cheese stick
Lunch: Shrimp over romaine with cheese, cucumbers, onion, and balsamic dressing
Snack: Celery with PB (1/2 my allotment)
Dinner: Grilled salmon with steamed broccoli
Dessert: My version of a peanut butter cup: 1 tablespoon natural PB with a melted Fudgesicle that's thrown back into the freezer then eaten frozen. YUM. It was one thing that I've not been able to let go of, even after I fell off SB :D

Backonthewagon, You sound just like me! I started SB a few years ago and have had great success -- lost about 60lbs in less than a year. Now I've gotten a little lax, and like you said up about 10-15 lbs. I started back 11/3 and I'm down 5.5lbs as of this morn. Excited and feeling great. I hate to exercise as well. I love to do outdooor things -- hiking and such. But in the colder weather and without planning a day excursion, I just can't keep up with anything. I can lose weight but I need to tone!

Good luck as you get back on track! Sounds like this plan works well for you.

Okay here I am.....trying this again.... I hope that with others on here ....I can do this.
I am so addicted to sugar and chocolate and carbs right now.....I mean it when I say addicted.
I have lost almost 40 lbs on the sb diet program...but fell off the wagon for a couple of months and gained 10lbs back.. but also have the temptation of the naughty foods haunting my palette. I hope to lose 30 lbs. This diet really works. Starting on phase 1 again.

How did you do today?? Here is what I've eaten so far, I'm finding I need to refer to see what's legal and what isn't. It will be great when this becomes 2nd nature again like it used to be!

B: tea w/ skim milk
S: Omellette w/ green peppers, onions & a bit of real bacon bits
L: hamburgery & cabbage stew w/ lots of veggies

Today was a bit skattered since my son had hockey at 7am so I didn't have time to eat breakfast before we left (it was all I could do to feed DS and get our stuff ready lol) so I had my omellette around 9am and lunch was around 1pm. And of course drinking water! For supper I plan to have vegetable soup. As far as exercise goes, I plan to treadmill tonight after kids are in bed. Not the most ideal time to work out, but just getting a work out INSIDE my day is my plan. I'll tweak things and try to make them morning workouts later on, once I get back into the swing of things. I hope your day went well! Can't wait to hear you update

My body wanted back on SB because I feel so much more energetic today! I did well and stuck to my meal plan today. I don't plan on working out until PH2 because last time I got REALLY sick when I exercised during PH1. But I'll see in about a week.

Twotimer, you're doing great! I have the same problem you do - i lose weight very easily, but have a difficult time toning up. But I am determined to look great in a bikini by next swimsuit season, and since I live in Florida, that's in like March! lol

Chocolate - The Fudgesicle recipe that I put in my last post really helps me fight my sweet tooth. I have it almost every night, even after falling off SB!

Last10, I've found that if I have to be up early in the AM, I will usually cook my omelet at night and throw it in the fridge so all I have to do is heat it in the micro. It makes the morning rush with kids so much easier.

We're doing great guys! Keep it up!

Hi,

I'd like to join you if that's OK. I'm new to South Beach, but I've done years of calorie counting, and can't face it again after putting back on most of the weight I lost last time. I'm starting tomorrow (Monday) properly, and researching it today. I am 136 pounds and want to get to 120 pounds, so I want to lose 16 pounds. I'm 5 foot 2 inches. I'm from Australia, where we are just into summer, so hopefully it won't be too hard to lose the weight. 8)

I have a question about exercise. I run 2-3 times a week, and do spin classes (stationery bike) for a cardio workout a couple of times a week also, and do weights exercise classes about twice a week. Is it OK to exercise on Phase 1, and are there any ill effects from not having enough carbs?

Processed carbs are my big issue, and I am trying to do something about a serious chocolate addiction.

Thanks, and I hope to see you around the forums! :D

Hi...I'd like to join in with you guys this week too if I can :)

I did SBD a few years back now and got on really well with it. I've since had 2 children, given up work to be a full time Mum and got the waist line to prove it  Actually to be fair my youngest is only 10 weeks old so I still have a pretty good excuse. ;) I'm not sure how it's going to work for me with a family to feed....last time I did it I was living on my own so just didn't have treats or bad stuff in the house....now with a toddler and a hungry husband to cater for things might be a little different :?

I need to go and weigh myself to get a starting weight....think I'm about 12 stone...what's that? 168lbs.....and I'd like to get down to 140lb ideally.

exercise wise I'm struggling a bit. I've done my post-natal workout dvd a couple of times this week :D but it's difficult to fit it in around a toddler and newborn so I've decided I'm going to start doing it in the evening as soon as they go to bed @ 7pm....husband has promised to help encourage me, must remind him that encouragement doesn't mean nagging  I also want to start going to the gym again on a weekend...I take the LO's swimming in the week but it's not really a workout for me

Anyway...I'm going to start on Tuesday which will be 10th November as that's when I do the shopping and so will be adding all my good foods onto my shopping list :)

Nice to meet you all!!! Glad we can all hold hands and do this together! :D

Today has been pretty good. This is what I've had so far and what I plan to have with dinner:
Breakfast: 2 egg omelet with cheese, 1/2 cup artichoke hearts (does anyone know if they are allowed? they are soooo good :D )
Snack: 10 almonds
Lunch: cheese, mayo, ranch dressing, boca burger, and mushrooms wrapped in lettuce
Snack: celery with 1 wedge Laughing Cow swiss cheese
Dinner: salmon topped with tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and garlic, sprinkled with mozzarella cheese and steamed green beans
Dessert: my PB cup

Andie, are you nursing? If so, make sure you start on Phase Two. Phase One won't provide enough nutrition for breast-feeding babies. I know how difficult it can be to try to eat right when other people in the house don't. My boyfriend can eat anything he wants and is trying to GAIN weight! It gets easier the longer you stick to it and the more your conviction to be healthy grows.

Ozi, exercising is perfectly fine in Phase One, I just get really sick from it personally. I've heard that some people get weak and/or sick for a few days after starting SB. I think it may depend on how much carbs you consumed before starting SB? I know there are some threads on here that address the issue.

It probably depends more on how many carbs you are getting in P1 and their timing before and after the exercise itself. There are lots of good carb sources in P1 if you make it a point to use them effectively and support your activity levels.

No unfortunately didn't work out for us this time...although it does mean I've got my body back to myself sooner this time round :D

That all sounds very tasty...may I call you Wagon? ;)

I'm just trying to get this weeks menu;s together so I can do my online shopping ready to start in earnest tomorrow :D Breakfasts are a bit of a toughie for me....I LOVE cereal and that was the hardest thing for me when I did SBD before. Just seems eggs eggs and more eggs :? will be easier now that I'm not working...used to be a bit of a pain as I'd go to the gym before work and then have breakfast when I got to the office...now it'll be ok though :) Need to have a look around here to see if I can find some other breakfast suggestions although I was thinking grilled tomato and mozzerella melted over the top might be nice :)

I exercised ok when I did SBD before...as I say I went to the gym before work....I actually felt I was eating more so had lots of energy....rather than just eating less and it being really bad stuff...too much refined carbs! I did suffer with headaches for couple of days :(

I'm really excited about starting again!! I remember suddenly feeling "well" when I hadn't realised I'd been feeling under the weather :?

That's great! There is quite a group of us now starting again.

Well I've done pretty well the past 2 days I think. Bit the bullet and forced myself onto the treadmill Sat. night for the half hour challenge program it has built in. It kicked my butt. I did it again last night and the time went by quickly, and I was able to pace better and keep up for most of it but still had to modify it a bit while I break myself back in. I'm very sore today, owie

Wagon, your salmon supper sounded so yummers, I think I'm going to have to have that myself tonight. I'm missing breads a bit today as cinnamon buns and fresh bread were made for the kids so of course the smells are torture. But I'm not missing fruits...yet. I know that will happen though. We often have fruit for desserts with a bit of whipped cream in our house. I think I'd better get a few stock items to make some of the allowable treats to curb my sweet tooth. I indulged in halloween candy for 3 days after halloween lol

I'd say we're off to a great start! We can do this!
