Hi, I started doing the elliptical with zero resistance and on a manual flat route at 15 min about 5 months ago. I now do the machine for 30 - 40 min at 8 resistance in cross training mode (mode 5 on the Precore). It just take time to build up your stamina. You may already be there but if not don't worry just do what you can. My advice would be to set a goal each week to add a min or 5 and keep building from there..whatever works for you. :)

Hello, I do the elliptical for about 40m everyday at 10 resistance (this is using the one at the gym) however, that one that my husband bought me I can not do more than 10 minutes at 1 resistance without getting tired. It most had to do with the type of machine.

Hi, I am totally new to this site, and to my new eliptical machine! I think that I will love it, but time will tell. I have a question that I think maybe someone with some medical knowledge might be best???? Don't know. I went on my eliptical for the very 1st time today. I did the stretches by the book. I did 5 minutes at #1 resistance, and I thought I had better quit. I should add that I have had 2 complete knee replacements in my right knee only, 4 surgeries on my right foot, and 4 months ago had rotator and bicep muscle tear repaired. I am not in any way complaining, I am happy that I can walk!! I do take my dog on a walk daily for approx 1 1/2 miles. I am also 58 yrs old. But here is the thing. I am very active, despite all of my junk. I go from morning til night. Ok, taking into consideration everything I just told you, is 5 minutes totally stuipd, or is it not best to start out being that easy on my body. I don't want to get re-injured, but it is essential for me to keep things moving. Anybody? This is a serious question, all kidding aside! HELP !!!!

Thanks for your advice! I thought of that, but then it sounded rather silly to add 3-4 minutes or so at a time! But I think that is the only way I can do it??? Thanks! :D
