P90X

Postby ashleys1833 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 4:49 pm

Hello

I am currently in day 4 of phase one and I am lacking energy, I want to get motivated to workout. I just bought the P90x workout a few months ago and have only done it 2times. IT IS HARD!!! and I was so sore for a week after only doing 2 days. I was just wondering if Its healthy to do such a intense workout in phase 1? I really want to get back into doing the video and hoping it will help me get more fit faster. I know it takes time and I need to have patience but I also need some motivation because I have not lost anythiny yet.

No, you need to at least eat phase 2 foods. It's way to hard to eat phase one foods and still have enough energy for a decent workout. You need carbs for exercise. Try the phase two foods or wait and do your two weeks of phase one and then start working out when you move to phase one.

Try an easier workout. If you haven't been working out at all, I'd recommend starting with walking 20 -30 minutes/day, or even every other day. Just getting up and moving will help. Each week, you can bump up the intensity of what you are doing a little bit. I'm a runner, and I struggled with my runs, when I first started phase 1. What helped me tremendously was having a mock frosty with spinach (it's amazing - I swear!) about 30 minutes before my run. I found that the dairy gave me the necessary carbs for my run. Hope this helps!

What or where is the recipe for this "mock frosty" with spinach?

don't know if it is a mock frosty or not, but it could be this smoothie: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31412

It's sort of a combination of the "gross-out smoothie," and the mock frosty recipes. I make it with 1/2 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup cottage cheese (I actually use a little more milk and a little less cottage cheese, but it equals 1 cup, total,) 2 packets of Equal or Splenda, 1 Tbs sugar-free chocolate syrup, 9 ice cubes, and approximately 1/2 to 1 cup of frozen spinach. I also add a few drops of pure mint extract. Blend very well in a blender. I usually have to scrape it down a few times, since I don't have the greatest quality blender. If you blend it completely, you honestly don't notice the spinach!

Great! Thanks moinab, I will have to try that. Have you tried any other flavorings or extracts? I'm not a big Mint fan.

I am still in phase 1 Redbox, so while the ones on that link (thanks for posting that link too!) sound AMAZING I can't have them just yet but will try them as well when the time comes.

I just added the mint because I like it. I'm sure you could try other extracts, but they're not necessary for the recipe - just something I added in.

A friend of mine did P90X and loved it. It did change her body for sure. I was tempted to do it but I don't have the time commitment to give to it every day, plus I love going to the gym... Whatever works eh? I agree with the others to get a solid foundation into P2 before starting P90X. You will feel better and stronger in P2 and motivated by the weight you will have lost. It took me a couple of months after starting SB last summer to get into a regular exercise routine and now I can't live without it.

Good luck!!

I am No expert.. But I did Body for life, which is the same kinda workouts... I also tried p90x.. too difficult for me.. but p90 isn't too bad....
My understanding , when your trying to build muscle you need alot more protein than with south beach plan.
thier eating is more... 40 carbs/40 protein and 40% fats

Usually you follow what weight do you want to be.. say 150lbs then you try to get in .8lb per.. so like 130 grams of lean protein per day...
It is wicked hard, but wicked results. :D

Should a couple of those be 30%? Or should one be 20%?
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

H
Hello there I am a personal trainer, and Id have to agree that this is an intense workout not meant for phase one in the least. If you insist on it, Id do 30 min a day and stop. or simply just start walking moderately. You can take b complex for energy or a thermogentic (fat burner) listen to your body. Have a great day. Feel free to ask any questions. I am going to try the sb diet myself to see what its all about. K
