Heavy Exercise on Phase 1 - Advice?

Postby CSchultzy » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:05 am

Hi there, first time poster here!

I've done the diet once before and saw great results and decided to start up with Phase One again this month. However, I'm currently in training for a very intense fitness challenge - Tough Mudder, for those who've heard of it - in just over two weeks (I would finish Phase One on June 18th, and would only have five days of reintroducing carbs into my diet before the event). I'm worried about my energy while training (Roughly 50 mins of cardio, 4 - 5 times/week, as well as some strength training), and more importantly, energy for the event. Correct my if I'm wrong, but the purpose of Phase One is to drown out your body's long-term energy (carbohydrate) storage. Since the SB Diet doesn't have an emphasis on exercise, I'll be doing this at a much more rapid rate.

Does anyone have any advice regarding heavy exercise on the SB Diet? If I start to feel really drowned out, I might start reintroducing some carbs after just one week of Phase One. Curious to hear your thoughts!

Although your event sounds hardcore, what you described doing leading up to it doesn't really qualify as heavy exercise to me. You should be able to do that on the p1 carb sources (it isn't carb free or low-carb, as you'll see in some of the similar questions in this forum) if you time your meals and snacks right.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.
