Hello everyone. Thanks for a great source in information. I have hypothyroidism, had it since 1993. Was diagnosed with Hashimoto's which is the thyroid autoimmune disease in 2007. I have had terrible weight gain in the last three years. NOTHING I do seems to help but I can admit to be a sugar/carb eater. I have not been able to exercise in the past serveral years because of terrible joint pain. I recently started another thyroid medication, Cytomel, in addition to my Levothyroxine and it HAS taken away alot of my pain. ONLY problem is my BP went up, NOT for sure it was JUST because of the Cytomel as it has been hanging in the high 130's over 85 over several years. It recently was 156-160 over 85-90 SO I was started on BP meds last Friday. It's been down the last few days. I'm ready to take control of my life and LOSE this weight. South Beach seems like a great diet for me. ANY suggestions on starting out, I DO have the book and recipe book, I want it to be as simple as possible. Anyone out there with thyroid disease who has found this successful? THANKS in advance!!
I should add I'm looking at needing to lose 40 pounds to be where I am comfortable and feel healthy. Not looking to be reed thin, its NOT they way my body is made and I'm NOT looking to be a super model. Want to get off this BP med and hoping some weight loss will do it!
