Exhausted and sometimes lightheaded

Postby sage2 » Mon May 23, 2011 7:34 pm

I am just getting to the end of phase 1 of SB. I noticed about a week ago that I was getting really tired easily. Not sleepy tired, but I walk up a flight of stairs and start to feel exhausted from it, and my heart rate feels like it's going to start racing. My whole life, I have gotten light headed easily, but I have been noticing this more often and sometimes with a little dizzyness. I just want to lay on the couch all the time. I even went home from work one day.

I am 29, in good health, I work out about twice a week, and I get 8-9 hours of sleep a night. I was only looking to lose 20 lbs, and have lost 9 already.
My first guess was that it is a blood sugar thing. Is this diet unhealthy for me? Should I be concerned? Am I doing something wrong?

I think I am eating really well:
Breakfast: 1%cottage cheese (not really a breakfast person, had an asparagas and canadian bacon omlete a couple times)
Snacks: cashews, pistacios, lt string cheese, or bell peppers and hummus
Lunch: usually a big salad with all kinds of greens, tomatoes, onions, feta, and canadian bacon or a hard boiled egg with olive oil and vinegar. or dinner leftovers
Dinner: a different fun dish each night. (venison chili, tuna steak with greens, green curry chicken w/eggplant and spinach, chicken and veggie stirfry...)

I haven't had any caffiene (didn't have it much before either), lots of water, and no sugar substitutes.

Any ideas? Should I consider going to the doctor or stopping the diet?

You're eating a lot of vegetables, which is good, but you probably need some of the higher carb ones, namely beans/legumes. Incorporating those should help, and have your minimum half cup of veggies at breakfast.

Also try adding your 2 cups of dairy (the allowed types of milk and yogurt-- not cheese, which is a protein). See the meal templates in the FAQ for help with meal design.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

I'm having the same issue. Just completely tired. But I'm only on day 4 so I'm assuming this would get better. I love the bean idea because I haven't incorporated any into my diet yet. I guess I'll try it and let you know if it works. Otherwise i'm pretty good on my cups of milk. Let me know if you find a solution!!! Thanks! Good luck!
