Hi all I am on day three and decided to start a journal. Please if anyone sees something I need to add or take out please let me know. I am really committed to doing this right. I wiegh 286 and my goal is 130 but for my height (around 5'3) it really should be less than that. So here are my first three days:
Day One,
Breakfast- 2 Scrambled eggs with a little low fat cheese and 4 slices of canadian bacon(this was the serving size on the package is this too much?)
Lunch- Salad with chicked breat and bacon bits (no fat 2 carbs, 2 grams of sugar). And two tbls. Ranch Dressing.
Dinner- One piece of chicken breast with a little low fat cheese. Brocli. (brain freeze cant spell!)
Snack- 2 hardboiled eggs.
Day Two,
Breakfast- 3 Boiled eggs, 4 slices canadian bacon
Lunch- Salad with low fat lunch meat ham, bacon bits and ranch dressing.
Dinner- 2 Thin sliced turkey breast with low fat ham on top and a little motzerella cheese. Brocclie (still cant spell it!)
Snack- Peanuts
Day 3
Breakfast- Nothing, overselpt, I work til midnight so hubby let me sleep in.
Lunch- Steak and side salad, ranch dressing. (boy that really filled me up too, the steak was a medium one at that.)
Dinner- Pizza (not real pizza, I used the recipie Darlene had in her journal.
Snack- Not sure yet havent had one.
So there it is. I bought a ton of turkey and chicken breast since it is cheaper than the lean meat. I mainly plan on salads with a little meat for lunch and think I am going to start adding a side salad to my dinner to help fill me up. I have been drinking tons of water and diet soda for dinner and sometimes lunch or if not at lunch at work when I need that extra pick me up. |

| Ok day four is going great. I saw my doc this morning and she thrilled I have started finally. I am going to try something totally new for dinner so wish me luck. I plan on sauteeing shrip, mushrooms and asparaguas (which I have never had). So I hope it turns out ok. I am finding that I am no longer hungry as I was in the first few days. I have had a bit of a headache but not sure if its from the diet or that I get migranes. I did have a morning snack and think that is going to help as I had not really been snacking. Ok well off to the kitchen to cook dinnersince I have to go to work soon. I find this is the hardest part since I am at work for dinner time and am used to eating out almost every night. Luckly everyone at work is really supportive in fact the person I worked with last night brought a salad to work, he didnt want to make me feel bad by eating cook out food. I told him it wasnt a problem but I think that was really sweet anyway. |

Hi Jill,
We are about the same height and although I haven't been weighed yet (I'm going to the gym tonight to step on the scales) I reckon we are similar weights. (I might be a bit more)
I started SB today, so it will be interesting to keep tabs on each other, see how we are getting on.
I live in UK which makes it difficult to get hold of some things in the book. Low fat ricotta for a start! But I'm going to try to substitute fat free yogurt for that. The menu plans and recipes are very American!
Anyway, I just wanted to say good luck. Looks like you have made a good start.

Day four was the hardest for me with cravings, but after that they went away. You seem to be doing great so far. Good luck to you and keep up the great work!

Hi! You asked if 4 slices of Canadian bacon was too much -- I believe 1-2 slices is what's recommended if you're having it with your breakfast.
Looks like you are doing great, though! :D |

Thanks thepug, I was going by what was on the package. But lately I cant finish four so have cut it down anyway.
Lush have you started a journal? I would love to have someone online to talk to and such. I just love this forum. I havent wieghed since I started, I am trying to hold off until at least one week is over hopefully two! On a good note though, MY hubby is doing this with me as well and its been really hard for him. He calls me all day with the what can I have I am hungry. So I didnt think he would stay on it. Well he called not to long ago and he has lost 5lbs already so I think that has really changed his mind about this diet and he may actually stick with it!
Went to moms today which was pretty tought cause when I go to her house we always have steak on toast with cheese and fries for our lunch, so I was worried about that but I left before lunch time and she wasnt upset and is actually thinking of trying!
Ok well I have gone on enough, oh just finished my snack of smuckers pb and celery. I got the no salt added kind and it was really good to my suprise. I am such a peanut butter freak. Only thing was I couldent get the oil to mix in right thought I was gonna break my spoon! |

| Ok just finished my dinner of apsaragus, mushrooms and shrimp. Was pretty good but I overcooked the asparagus and I think that made it a little strong. But the rest was great and I am full! I kinda like this experimenting stuff so I think I am gonna have some fun with tomorrows meal! |

Hi Jill
Yes I have started a journal. Thought it might help me keep tabs on what I'm eating and how I'm feeling. Its called My Diet - Lisa and I'll be updating it everyday I hope. And I don't have much support at home, so these boards will be a Godsend to me.
It must be good to be able to follow this diet with your hubby. My boyfriend is a picky eater and if its not pure carbs it won't pass his lips! Could make life difficult later when I'm tucking into my meat and veggies and he is having his usual 4 baked potatoes with butter for dinner!

Lisa I would love to say I enjoy having my hubby on this with me but he is annoying me to death. He wont read the book so does not understand the concept. He calls me at all hours while I am at work asking what can he eat. We have two young kids at home so we have some non SB friendly stuff and he has been sneaking into that or eating the next days meals I have in the fridge! Sorry just had to vent for a min he is driving me nuts! Oh I am not sure if I cheated or not but I had a snack when I got home I had a cheese stick and a few peperonis. I dont know if they are SB friendly or not so I hope I didnt cheat.
Anyway, day five is going well. I overslept again so I didnt have breakfast and I usually have salad for lunch but ran out. So I made some Salmon and green beens and it really filled me up. Couldent finish all the salmon. I find if I eat my veggies or salad first I dont eat as much. So for dinner I brought Chicken and brussel sprouts. I think they are allowed but not mentioned in the book. I also brought some SF Jello, I was expecting the stuff to be nasty but its pretty good. I am still trying to get all my water in and I think still drinking too much caffine, but I think its ok cause I am not getting cravings. I feel bad about drinking so much caffine but I work til midnight and sometimes need the extra boost. I think I have read the reason to avoid the caffine is cause it causes cravings and that doesnt seem to be a problem for me. Anyway hope everyone is doing well today! |

| Ok just got off the phone with hubby and he is now on my list. He is at home smothering everything in BBQ sauce. I guess my main prob with this is I fix certain things for us since we are on the beach together, if he is not gonna stay on it I wish he would eat the regular food we have in the house. I am cooking twice as much now and guess I am just sick of him cheating and eating up all my SB foods. UGGG sorry just had to vent a little. Oh did I mention the cheese story? I cut a block of cheese up so we could have a piece here and there as a snack, well I got home from work last night and ALL of it is gone! UGGGG Going to my happy place now! |

| New2thabeach- sounds like you are doing terrific. Water is very important. I would work on getting my water intake up. I was a total diet coke feind when I started this diet. IF I drink all the water I am suppose to I find that I don't drink the soda. I understand your need working the midnight shift and if it works don't fix it but do be sure to get plenty of water. Day 4 and 5 were the hardest for me. I have trouble with migraines, sinus headaches and I think a serious caffeine headache. About day 6 I started to feel better. We are in the same boat about the same weight. Come and visit. Keep up the good work. On the hubby thing--remember that what he eats that is SBD friendly usually means that he is not eating something unhealthy. I know it is tough- I have 3st kids and a husband that are not on the diet and have had to make a few things totally off limits to them--My laughing cow cheese and any leftovers I plan to have the next day. My 4th child, my oldest is doing the diet with me and she will make up a deep dish pizza quiche and tell everyone that it is off limits. (it is outstanding- and everyone drools) But the family is pretty supportive. But, more then once I have gone for a cheese stick of a few peanuts to find there are non so I can totally relate  |

| Hey rabbit, thanks for visiting my journal. I have cooled off now, I am a little cranky today, can you tell? LOL I had planned on sleeping in since I have problems sleeping at night, probly due to my wieght. Kids are at grandmas and I had the house to myself, well my darling doggies decided if they were up I needed to be up too. The little buggers kept getting right in my face and barking at me. Anyway not so mad at hubby now I do want him to suceed as he is really over wieght and has a family history of cardiac problems. Well tomorrow is a new day and hopefully a good one! |

I have the opposite problem with my boyfriend. I don't have to worry about him eating all the SB food. I wish he would. His diet is appalling and it worries me a lot.
There is no way on Gods earth he would eat ANY food on SBD, except the eggs. His whole diet consists of white bread, potatoes, crisps ( they are your chips!) and biscuits (cookies!) He has eggs a couple of times a week, and the only meat he will eat is ground beef, but only in the form of cottage pie so he can mix it up with the mashed potato topping. He also loves meat and potato pies, a North England "delicacy" of mashed potato, ground beef in shortcrust pastry.
My trouble is keeping out of "Steves crap cupboard", the biggest one in the kitchen which is filled full of his crisps, biscuits and sweets. Its so tempting to grab a Mars Bar insted of a slice of turkey or a peice of cheese! Maybe I should get him to padlock it, we can't get rid of it all otherwise he would starve!

I know what you mean Lisa, I have two toddlers and we have alot of food in the kitchen for them. I find my self sometimes looking at their food and day dreaming how good it would be. Never knew how much I really love mac and cheese! But so far I keep telling myself I am doing this for them and I need to stay on track. No cheats yet!!
Day 6 is going ok. I am finding that I have to force myself to eat. I was bad at breakfast and just had a cheese stick and some water. For lunch I had a small portion of chicken (the kind in a can) with some mayonaise. I guess this is good but I am having trouble getting all my meals and snacks in. I have upped my water more today so far so I am happy about that. Still havent wieghed myself which is killing me cause I wanna know but promised myself not till tom. Technaclly my week one isnt up till sat but I dont have a scale and plan on slipping into my doctors office to wiegh so I will have to do that tom. Also want them to check my blood pressure since its been pretty high lately and this is my last ditch effort before I get put on medicine. Just for kicks I tried on some old pants yesterday and while I still cannot zip them I got them on without having to jump around the room! I also need to try and get some exercise in which is hard for me with my work hours and finances. The local gym is 40 bucks a month and I am such a cheapo. I have started walking some with my dog but our road isnt the greatist. I think this weekend I will head over to the track at the highschool. |
