Hello everyone! I have been reading these message boards all week and thought I would join in.
I am currently about 30 lbs overweight. I had lost so much weight a couple of years ago just by running and excercising and as soon as I quit -it all came back on. I have had two kids - and want to be in shape and healthy.
Starting weight: 180
Today's weight: 178
Goal weight: 148 - 150
I know I can do this - I just need to stay focused and remember how good it feels to be thinner!!! and how fun it is to be able to shop for fun clothes and feel good around friends and family! I ordered the book online and have not received it yet - but, my friend has been advising me over the phone. I am NOT a breakfast eater - so that has been the toughest for me.
I am trying to stick to eggs, bacon, canadian bacon for morning. \
Peanuts, celery, cheese for snacks
and salads and lean meats for lunch and dinner
I do eat a SF Bombpop once in a while....
Couple of questions... and remember, I haven't read the book yet.. :)
1. Do you have to eat 5 times a day?
2. Is Diet Coke allowed?? Can and/or fountain pop?
3. Snacky things are what I miss - I miss my triscuits, wheat things, chips.....anthing similar that is ok as well??
I am going to keep posting on this - b/c it makes me fell accountable. Reading everyones success stories is so encouraging. I want to do this and I know I can! I want to be a size 10/12 again!!! I miss that feeling so bad.
thanks everyone![/b] |

We are at the same stage in our diets. We can post our menus back & forth if you like. I enjoy reading about what other people eat in a day.
I'm down 5.5 pounds in my five days and I only have 7 pounds to go. I enjoy walking and biking and I try and get to the gym at least once a week. I also have two children, I have been married for over 15 years and my husband supports me in whatever I do. We usually work out together. Where do you live ? I'm in Georgia. Keep up the good work I feel as if this is great way to live your life and that white breads are so bad for the body. Hope to talk with you soon. Good Luck !! |

I am in Iowa - and actually love to run and walk - but have had to wait b/c of terrible shin splints. I am hoping to get started this wkd again - I have stopped running for two weeks.
I am not sure how much I have lost - I think it has been a few pounds. I know I need to do some things better though....drink more water - more veggies - and eat more often.
I am excited to get the book and understand more about the diet.
Today:
Breakfast: didn't have any!
Snack: Peanuts
Lunch: salad with shredded cheese and dressing
1 hard boiled egg
Snack: a few peaunuts
dill pickle with light cr. cheese and dried beef
Supper ( haven't had yet ): chicken breast marinated with rosemary and garlic, green beans with bacon, and salad.
water - water - water
I would love to share food ideas with you - keeps me motivated too!
How much weight are you trying to lose total??
have a good night! |

I boil eggs the night before and then they are ready for me in the am.
I heat up a piece of ham in a frying pan and top it with the sliced boiled egg and a thin slice of havardi cheese, tastes close to eggs benedic.
This is what I've had today, I think I eat to much. I do walk and ride my bike each day. My goal is to get down to 113. I started at 125.5.
I'm petite only 5"2" so 5 pounds make up a whole dress size on me.
BK egg beaters omlette
low carb protein shake
lunch slices of ham with cheese
snack peanuts
a few low carb chips w/ cream cheese
dinner a big salad w/ chicken & cheese lots of veggies
spinach cassarole I made
desert ricotta cream
Today was hard, my dd has a friend sleep over and they bought some of my favorite candy. I almost bought a low carb candy bar but I did not.
I did have a splash of vodka in my diet rite tangerine with dinner.
God luck Maria I'll talk to you on Saturday.

Hi KW --- I am on Day 6 of P1 and it feels so great. I am a MAJOR sugar addict so I really need this diet to steer me away from it and it works so well. It's tough but I can make it. I can't waite till P3, then I can eat whatever I want, but just keep it healthy and have my junky stuff on "occasion".
Pretty sure you can have Diet Coke, I haven't read in my book so far that you can't (I do, it helps with my sugar cravings).
You do have to eat a minimum of 3 times a day. But it is preferred that you have regular snacks which would be your Vegetables because most of them are very low in Carbs. The reason they want you to try to eat as much as you can is because the more you eat the more your metabolic rate rises and so the more fat you burn. But you have to be really faithful to Phase 1, it's the most important I find cuz it's all just losing water that your body has been retaining for so long. I don't think we can eat much Carrots though in P1 only cuz they have more carbs then most veggies. I haven't read the SB Diet book from front to back yet because I just got that & the SB Diet cookbook through my bookclub a little over a week ago, so I'm still workin' on it.
A lot of the little biscuits that you eat are surprisingly full of carbs. I went out and bought a box of Veggie Thins 40% less fat and they still frigg'n 0.9 grams of Carbs PER CRACKER!!! I couldn't believe it and one Ginger snap cookie has 22 Grams of carbs in it! Now that I've been on the diet for a bit I'm noticing just why I gained the weight that I did, man I'm sure I must have consumed like 50,000 carbs a day  ... Don't eat chips they are loaded with Carbs too and not healthy at all.
Anyway, hope this helps. Good luck with everything! |

| If the soda is caffienated I think he says to try limit it to 1 can a day..... if its non-caffienated then its unlimited.....but water is better for ya LOL. Im a caffine free diet pepsi/coke addict LOL I try not to have more than 2 cans a day... so then Im drinking enough water...but thats just my personal choice. |

well,
Last night we went to a friends house for dinner - and she was so sweet. She had cashews out for me and sliced cheese......I thought that was very nice of her. I had a diet coke while they all drank wine. It was hard - but, I did it!
Here is how today looks:
Breakfast: eggs scrambled with lean ham
Snack: handful of peanuts
Lunch: Baby spinach salad with grilled chicken and ranch dressing
Supper: I tried a hamburger wrap from Hardees.....minus the tomato and ketsup.....very very good! and filling!
Snack: Sweet Freedoms ice cream bar
I did not drink my water today - I drank about 3 tall glasses...ugh. Had some Crystal Lite - No pop.
So many challenges though...and I am realizing them now. All the times I would grab something to eat - that I catch myself going to do now - but, I do it?? Make sense?? Like if I got my kids a snack - I would never eat a lot of it - but, I would take a few chips before I gave them their bowl....I am really missing the fruit - But, I will be ok. I just keep telling myself that I can do this. I have to remember why I am doing it - and that it will take time. I am not going to lie - I am 31 and have NEVER had to worry about my weight. I always had maybe 5-8 lbs to lose - but, never 30.....It is so hard for me to realize that and accept it! but, I need to do something about it - so I am happy with me.
I hope everyone else is doing great! Thanks for the advice to those that replied.....it is so nice to hear from people going through the same thing. |

welcome to the beach. You really need the book. Im old and have done many diets and been diabetic since 1990. This book has explained so much to me, that makes so much sense. I have decreased a lot of my diabetic medicine. Stopped retaining so much fluid. But the book has such good advice and really explains the working in our stomachs and why some foods are so much worse than others.
