A little bit about me:
Name: Maricela (just call me Marcy)
Age: 23 Height: 5'8"
Weight: 314 (current) Beginning weight: 327
Well... I am starting my 8th week of the SBD and I love it!! I had tried this diet about 6 months ago and I quit after about 5 or 6 weeks. Not that it wasn't any good... its just that I gave into temptation.. I didn't really add much variety to my food and I got sick of it. I was just eating eggs, turkey bacon, decaf coffee, cheese sticks, SF jello, SF popsicles, and lettuce wraps... That got boring real quick. But now... thanks to low carb cookbooks and you guys I had A LOT of recipes that I am doing so I never get bored. Actually I think I have way more variety than I have ever had and I actually eat vegetables (who knew?). This is quite an accomplishment for me since I thought I was allergic to them. :D I try to mostly cook my vegetables, cause I am kind of sick of salads now...
As far as loosing goes.. I started out at about 333 last time.. I went down to about 312- 315 before I quit ( I can't remember the exact amount). Then when I started out again I was at about 327... after the first 2 weeks I lost about 9 pounds. Then I went on a plateau for about 3 almost 3 weeks. It turns out all I needed was some more carbs in my diet. Once I stopped being on a semi-phase 1 phase (meaning on "phase 2" while still remaining with almost all the same food as in phase 1) I began loosing again. I kind of got swooped into that semi-phase 1 with this whole low carb diet phenomenon thing. I had started researching low carb websites for diet support and before I knew it I was turning into an Atkin's dieter! Not that is bad or anything... but I began to worry about my carb intake 24/7. I even bought ketosis sticks (the shame!!! please don't ban me from this forum  ) I would wake up every morning and go see if I was in ketosis... which I was, but I didn't loose a darn pound!
Finally when I found this forum I got a dose of reality and I threw my ketosis sticks away! I bought myself some non-low carb bread, some non- low carb cereal, some real milk, some tortillas and boy did I feel good! At first I was scared of the carbs, but once I started eating them the pounds began to melt off. Now I make some awesome recipes with zero guilt (well... maybe some, it feels like I am cheating when I am not) and watch as the pounds go away... slowly but steadily. I lost about 4 pounds in a week and a half. I think I probably lost another pound or two by now. I haven't weighed myself yet... I try to do it only once a week so I won't get addicted. Seeing that its sooo easy for me to get hooked on something (like this forum  ).
Anyway, right now I am officially at 314... I can't wait until I hit the 299 mark. I know its still a lot, but I really want to see that 3 turn into a 2 so I can weigh myself on any darn scale I feel like! I forgot to mention I am also going to curves every day. I felt bad at first that I didn't have a buddy, but the girls there are great! Besides, it turns out one of the girls from the other division (I work for the City) goes there too so we get to chit chat. I am soooo happy I did join curves, I feel muscles bulding and I have been loosing inches everywhere, especially my hips. I also get to hang around in a friendly atmosphere and make friends with women who are on the same boat as me (kind of like here).
Hopefully I can get some friends in this forum as well so I can keep on with the motivation, and hopefully I can help motivate someone else as well. I will try to spend more time on my journal although I am in finals week right now (yes, I also go to school) so I am on a tight schedule. But after this week I am home free for the summer! |

Well, yesterday I did pretty bad... I ate part of a bag of Beef Jerky and it caused me to have cravings all day.
Breakfast: It was supposed to be high Fiber Cereal from trader joe's with skim milk, but it turned out being some portabella stuffed mushrooms since I forgot the milk when I came to work, opppss. Pretty good though.
Snack: flaxseed muffins (2) and cantaloupe
Lunch: Mexican Casserole I had brought from home (good thing I brought a lot because I had to eat my mushrooms for breakfast).
Snack: Beef Jerky (caused the death of me)
Dinner: Chicken, Broccoli Casserole... and cherries... and creamsicle... and a little bit of the meat with onions and tomatoes that my mom made.
Snack: Chocolate bar (hershey's 1 carb)....2 peanut butter cookies (SBD style)
Late night snack: another chocolate bar. I know I did bad, but my cravings were just so high yesterday... I even double glanced at the doritos bag my mom had. No more beef jerky for me! I had bought 2 bags and EVERYTIME I ate some I would get horrible cravings.
Today's meals so far...
Breakfast: Finally my cereal!! I love this stuff!
Snack: 2 flaxseed muffins and 2 peanut butter cookies with my coffee (which I hardly ever drink). No more sweet snacks for me for today (well maybe a popsicle later on  )
Lunch: More chicken and broccoli casserole... I actually love this stuff!
--Just to comment... I kind of followed a recipe Darlene had made. I browned my chicken, cooked my turkey bacon, and steamed my broccoli and cut them into bite size pieces and put them in the bottom of a pie/cake dish. I then added some cheese sauce I bought from carb options. I then did a "crust" to put over my dish (I had tasted a dish like this with crust before.. but it was pre-SBD so I didn't know if it would be ok). The crust consisted of hazelnut meal (about a cup) mixed with an egg, olive oil and a bit of water just to mix everything up. I then rolled it into a ball, put it between sheets of wax paper and pressed it until it was the size of my pan and then put it over the pan. I put it in the oven at 375... for about 25-30 min. You can't actually tell if the crust is done or not, but if cheese starts oozing out from the sides you kind of know its done. I believe this is phase 2, so if you are on phase 1, leave the crust out. I like it with the crust because it feels more filling.--
(these meals are tentative, subject to change)
Snack: Cherries... yummy.... they are a little bit sour, but thats ok.
Dinner: Mexican Casserole ( I actually cook in bulk during the weekend so I alternate meals, its fine with me though... saves me the hassle and I love casseroles anyway). I am thinking of adding some lettuce and avocado to my casserole.. just to give it more veggies and taste.
Dessert: Creamsicle (or maybe 2, but far apart) |

hey Marcy!!
So glad you decided to make a journal... i think it will really help you stick all this out!!
Dont worry about the cheats...they happen...and what you have to think is:
"i am only one meal away from being back on the beach!!"
and that is the truth!!
good luck!! |
