Well, after reading various threads in the forum, I have been inspired. I am going to do the South Beach diet!

I am 5'3'', 190lbs, size 16. I have lost about 10lbs in the last six weeks as I have been working out but not really eating healthy. Usually I eat a slimfast bar or shake in the morning, a salad with some sort of meat and fruit for lunch and then whatever for dinner. Overall, my diet isn't that bad but it could be better, especially because I want to lose a lot of weight before the fall.

I call myself the "Rationalizer," (Like the Equalizer, that classic 80s drama!) Anyway, I am really good at rationalizing a pizza here, some ice cream there because, say it with me people, "TOMORROW, I can start again. "

Another weakness is if I hadn't had a particular food in a long time, like pizza, I hadn't had pizza in weeks so on Wednesday, I said f*** it, I want pizza. So after I worked out, I went and got some. And you know what, it didn't taste as good as my mind's eye thought it would. Doesn't that happen sometimes, okay a lot. You want something and you can remember the taste in your mouth but the reality of the food never matches.

It is a perpetual cycle. But I am ready to get off!

Congratulations doing the SB diet will help curb those cravings. And if cravings get you eat some topping no crust.

Well I started SBD on Sunday.

Breakfast- 2 eggs (needed to go grocery shopping)
Lunch- Salad with olive oil vinagrette (realized had corn syrup in dressing)
Dinner- 2 slices of turkey bacon and eggplant mozzarella
Snacks- Nuts

Okay, Fat-Free cheddar chesse and mozzarella is tremendously dull. It tasted like nothing. Maybe it was the brand, store-brand not Sargento or anything. Next time, I am going for low-fat cause fat-free ain't happin'

Monday
Breakfast- 1 egg, 2 turkey bacon slices, celery with peanut butter
Lunch- Salad with Olive Oil
Snacks- Nuts
Dinner- Not sure, I think I may actually try to cook. (I am not much of a cook but it is sort of exciting to see what I can come up with!)

It's weird, I am not sure why I am writing this as I also keep a journal but perhaps it is nice to know that there are other people out there who can sympathize or encourage me because I am not alone in this. I want to look at SBD as an opportunity to eat healthy and delicious food. Looking at the recipes on this site are inspiring and help me to realize that I can do a lot with healthy foods so thank you!

NUTS!

I think I am eating too many nuts. After reading Foods FAQ and thinking, I know that I must give up something. Even before SBD I would eat nuts as a snack. Today I had peanut butter and some nuts maybe about 15 total, all kinds, pecan, almond, brazil, cashew. Well, I will either go with peanut butter or the nuts, I think I will go with the nuts.

Also the pizza without crust is good idea, I liked the pizza recipe here with ground beef, although I would probably use ground turkey

Dinner last night spinach salad with mozzarella, tomatoes, seasoned chicken (oregano, onion powder, garlic, good stuff), and olive oil with vinegar)
It was actually fun making dinner, I made it with my niece, so cute, when she was pinching the oregano and flicking it in the chicken bag, she said Bam! I also gave some to my mother and sister and they liked it.

Breakfast- 1 egg, 2 turkey bacon slices, celery with peanut butter (personally, I don't mind the repetitive nature of this meal as I usually ate a slimfast bar or shake every morning)
Lunch- Leftover Salad (didn't taste as good, I think it was the tomatoes)
Snack- Edamame (Staying away from nuts!)
Dinner- Some ground turkey chili concotion with lima beans over lettuce or spinach. Will see how it goes.

Well, I also biked 30 min yesterday and today and will do another 40-45 today and lift. It has been day 3 and my energy seems okay, again see how it goes.

After reading your first post, I was thinking....OMG that sounds just like me. I am 5'2", also 190 lbs prior to SB.
I to am a rationalizer. I find myself things...."I haven't had Mexican food in a week....sure it won't hurt to have it".
After reading most of the SB diet book I quickly learned why I can't seem to loose any weight. All the foods I really like are on the "avoid" listing.
This diet has been quite a change for me, but it has been ok so far. I am in phase 1, day 7. Day 4 was the worst. All my cravings for carbs hit me all at the same time. I wanted all of my favorites. My wonderful husband helped me through it. My biggest problem is that I LOVE food. I put way to much emphasis on what I eat. I tried not to do that but it doesn't work. Therefore, I have just had to make it my goal to find stuff on this diet that I really like. So far I have lost five pounds.

I will check back with you periodically to see your progress. Good Luck.

Thanks Wrennly for your comments :D

Yesterday, Dinner was good!
Chili with lima beans (ground turkey, tomatoe paste, green peppers, eggplant, onions, oregano, chili powder, jalapeno hot sauce, minced garlic- good stuff!)
Desert- Cocoa+Ricotta+Splenda (I don't want to use Splenda too much, but it tasted okay, although the ricotta texture was "interesting"...)
My workout was good, I did 30 min on bike instead of 45 and arm lifts, and some crunchies. I didn't feel like I had that much less energy, although my legs felt a heavier than usual at the end of the bike time.

Wednesday
Breakfast- 2 slices of turkey beacon, 1 egg, celery with natural PB
Lunch- Leftover Chili
Dinner- A boring salad (I need to get rid of some lettuce)...
Snacks- Edamame
Exercise 30 min bike at lunch, 30 min bike after work and leg lifts

I think I am going to start buying frozen vegetables, although, I have a fear of overcooking them, thus losing all of the nutrients but it seems more economical.

Wow, this is somewhat boring (okay, really boring!), hmmm, maybe I do have less energy...

Use a food processor, if you have one, to mix up the ricotta desserts-MUCH creamier!! I suppose you could try a blender. I never have any luck using a blender for anything other than frozen cocktails!
