Low blood pressure

My mom was on the diet and half way through the second week, became light headed. She checked her blood pressure thinking it might be high and it was quite low. She is on blood pressure meds. She called her doctor concerned and was seen, but he insisted it had nothing to do with the diet. She stopped the diet and her blood pressure returned to normal. She would like to start again but is nervous about it. Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

I TOO AM ON MEDS FOR HIGH BP,QUITE A FEW,I STARTED DIET 2 WEEKS AGO AND HAVE NOTICE MY BP HAS DROPPED,NOT ALARMINGLY YET.
BUT I AM HOPING IT WILL DROP,AND I CAN REDUCE SOME MEDS,I THINK THE DIET WAS THE REASEN FOR YOUR MUMS DROP IN BP,AS IT RETURNED UP WHEN SHE QUIT DIET.
IF SHE GOS BACK ON DIET,SHE SHOULD GET HER BP CHECKED REGULAR,AND DOC WILL REDUCE MEDS IF NEEDED.

I agree with her doctor. The short time she was on it couldn't have lowered her blood pressure that much. She needs to have it checked periodically to see if it is stable or what. If anything, she should do better on it.

Alot of people on blood pressure medications will see a drop if they become dehydrated. Tell her to really concentrate on drinking plenty of fluids and see if that makes a difference. I'm new to the diet. I'm not overweight, but needed to lose some fat around my belly. This is week one and I can tell a difference by looking, but not on the scale and I'm OK with that. I'm 5'1" and 122lbs. Is there anyone else out there not needing to lose weight, but wanting to trim up? Of course, I wouldn't object to droppinga few lbs!

My blood pressure dropped to an alarming low: 90/60. I felt very weak. I added salt, felt better, and the bp returned to normal. This was me; not advocating it for everyone

My blood pressure has dropped from 140/90 to 110/69 in a couple weeks of this diet. Because my blood pressure started rather high, I am pleased with this result. I do think, however, that the combination of diet, possible dehydration, and blood pressure medication could make a person's blood pressure drop dangerously.

Is it possible that her doctor didn't really take the diet seriously? Whatever she does, I would recommend staying on the meds, as her doctor recommended, and if she wants to continue with this diet, she needs to track her blood pressure frequently.

I agree with andrya. A major reaon I'm ON this diet is to lower my blood pressure enough so that I dont have to take meds. And while MY doctor thought it would take longer than a few weeks, I've seen posts on this forum to the contrary.

In any case, that doctor needs to read the book!! :P

Bloodpressure can drop. i know for most of oyu that is good. but i am concerned. i was outside today in the sun for oess than 2 hours and nearly passed out-- thinking it was a BP drop but it wasn't that hot. but if SBD is can cause this i need to be concenred as i do have low blood pressure. if mine was 90/60 if would not be unuusal, it isn't the norm but nothing shocking.

the nornal 120/80 for me is very high.

waht causes this drop and want can you do to stop it other than not going out in the sun which is not good for me even before SBD but there should not have been a problem today as it as only in the 70's. it it wasin the 80's then it would make some sense but i should be able to tolerate a litte sun in the 70's

High humidity can also contribute to LBP, even if the temp is not so high.
