I started running about 1 month ago. I am starting slowly. Currently I run about 5 days per week. For 20 minutes. I am at the point where I am running 2 minutes and walking 1 minute. My goal is to be able to run for 20 minutes straight. I do this in the morning when I first wake up. I also walk my dog about 4 or 5 days per week for 40 minutes at a good pace in the evenings.

About two weeks ago I started doing yoga. I really enjoy it and do a 45 minute tape about 4 times per week. Last week I started adding in a routine everyday after I run. It adds some yoga poses with Calisthenics. Push-ups, sit ups, lunges, leg lifts ect.. So my question is after I do this routine the next day I so sore!!!!! It's good I guess that means it's working.. but I wonder if if I should do the routine again or give my body a days break.

Also do you think this is enough exercise for me?

Thanks for any advise.

It's always a good idea to take at least one rest day weekly.... not only for physical reasons but mental...
It can be extremely easy to feel "burned out" it you don't have at least one day off, and then blow off exercising completely.

As far as it being "enough exercise"..... it depends.
What are your goals? Are you only exercising to lose weight... or would you like to get better at running and maybe run a 5 or 10k? (I have some great training programs for that..)

The guidelines for exercise (to lose or maintain weight) are:
For weight maintenance 30 minutes of exercise most days.
For weight loss: 60 to 90 minutes of exercise most days.

I think you have a pretty good start!

Thanks!!! I am looking to get fitter(toned body as well as lose weight). I am not really interested in running a marathon.. not right now anyways :) I am just enjoying being outside every morning running/walking. And I LOVE my yoga.
