| Hi, I also am having trouble with my work outs, which I am religious about doing. I am only on day four of the first week, and I don't really have much to lose, about five pounds, but stress eating has made it impossible to lose, so I thought I would give South Beach a try. I find myself weak during the day and morning workouts are tuff. I am sticking in there, I plan on only doing one week of Phase One, hopefully that will be all I need and then go on to phase two or three. I have read , though, that the first week is the hardest and a few people have said they felt a little weak. |

I'm having an issue with feeling weak too. i tried running on a treadmill on tuesday and ended up having to walk instead (i do a run/walk combo anyway, but i can usually run at least a mile before i walk). i walked on a high incline to try to make up for it.....but i didn't like it!
it does get better though! this is my second time on the beach, i had done it a couple years ago and had great results! i had a great workout program and lots of energy. i really built up my strength and endurence too. this is just our bodies getting used to the new WOE. it will pass. |

Phase 1 is fairly carb restrictive..... which can cause that feeling of lethargy when you try to work-out...
The "good" carbs in beans (kidney, garbanzo, etc.) and also the "good" carbs in the dairy we are allowed in Phase 1 can help boost your energy levels some.
On the upside... in phase 2 your energy levels will return to normal! |

Hi SpringLayne,
The first couple of days were a little hard. But my body has adjusted. I walk 2 miles a day and weight training extensively to the FIRM dvds 3 times a week. I actually pass out a couple of hours later just in time for bed time.
And I start again the next day. You should get used to it. Make sure to drink lots of water, eat your protein and your greens. |

| I wouldn't recommend trying to work out while on phase 1. If you insist on working out and getting some good exercise I'd stick to phase 2 |

I have to disagree with this....
There is no reason not to exercise on phase 1....
(well.... unless you're looking for an excuse not to workout..... ) |

| For those experiencing this issue, what are you using to properly fuel your workouts and how soon beforehand? |
