| i recently started eating the SB bars as snacks, and while i was at camp they were basically all i ate for meals because they were serving pancakes, etc all week. are these ok foods on P2? how many a day can i eat? is there another brand out there that's better for u? |

| they are really best used only on an occasional basis in emergency type situations. pls remember the program existed long before Dr. A got in bed with Kraft and started producing SB branded convienence foods. The basis of the program really still remains on real foods, not bars or shakes or frozen dinners. I've never quite figured out how you get 3-4 oz of quality lean protein and 2 cups of veggies in a bar! ;) I don't really consider "soy isoflavins" and other highly refined forms of soy to be very good choices for a "meal". So no I know of no other good alternatives either for a MRB as they all suffer from the same problem of not being real food and not providing enough vegetables. |

| it's curious that at times SBD promotes non-food (bars) over real food (pancakes). personally, real food in moderation is always the better choice. |

I use the bars, in emg situations, when I dont have anything else to eat that is SB safe. I.e. I have a couple in my desk at work, and a couple in my glove box. My schedule at work sometimes changes dramatically throughout the day, so if something happens where I have to stay late, be in the car instead of at the office for a meal, etc., I eat them. Fresh, real food cannot sit in my desk or glove box for weeks so that is why I use them.
This occurs approximately once every two weeks. |

in the over two years i've been on the beach I got one ONCE when i was somewhere needing breakfast and it was a conveinience store and NOTHING else was available no hard boiled egg no cheese no fruit NOTHING.... it was seriously and sadly the best choice i could make.
for daily emergencies nuts and string cheese travel well and can survive for one day in my lunch box without refridge... if i don't eat it... back to the fridge it goes... |

I would think your mother could contact the camp and request veggies and fruit be served at meals - I'm sure they CAN serve more than pancakes and syrup for breakfast if requested - or will make dietary choices available. |

have you called to talk to the management and explained that you need to have salads available? What kind of camp is it? and how much longer are you going to be there? |

I thought so...and usually have to meet nutritional needs of individuals when requested don't they? |
