hello, meet Ms. Surgically Menopausal x 2 years....it's 99+ degrees everyday and hot flashes on top of that is miserable. I can't take hormones....OMG I hate this! Especially since I have to start training 2 new nurses next week and when I'm stressed/anxious, they are worse - and so obvious, I turn beet red, no, make that - old fashioned fire engine red and sweat. I've already cut back my caffience considerably, drink lots of water, what else can I do?

I had blood clots 2 years ago so I'm going to talk to my doctor about what OTC/non-estrogen replacements. I can't afford to spend a lot on trying different stuff, but if anyone has similar situation and knows of something that works please let me know.

this is not going to help during the day but I did find something that helps the night sweats. Do a search for a chillow or chill pillow. It helps a lot! I dress in layers at work that can be removed when I start heating up. Nothing seems to help the beet red face for me!

You could try to increase your soy intake by 1-4 servings per day to help reduce your hot flashes. Soy is a phytoestrogen, therefore it mimicks natural estrogen in the body and this may help with your menopause symptoms. Light soy milk and tofu are both allowed on SBD.

If you do a google search for soy and hot flashes or menopause there is a ton of research out there to support this. Unfortunately I cannot post any links for you because I am too new to this board!
