| Hi! I keep trying to start P1 but the day I do it I always end up eating everything in sight because I know that those foods will be restricted...I wanted to start today and ended up cheating so bad that I have to put it off until tommorrow, and it only makes my cravings worse! I also tried the "mock cinnabun" tonight and no offense to fans of it, but the 1st few bites were good...then I ate a little more and it made me feel nauseous. Is there any sweet desserts for P1 that you've tried and like that might not involve ricotta cheese? I think that was just too much ricotta for me. I can't seem to get past day 1 and if anyone else encountered this issue or has any words of encouragement it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :) |

Don't give up! Today was my 7th day and it was very hard (especially at night- I eat soo much at night), but I'm doin it. It's difficult. I seem to fill up on the sugar free jell-o for desserts. I tried the ricotta but you are right, just so much cheese!
Try the jell-o more often if you like it. Also, I lost 1.5 pounds after the first two days so maybe that will motivate you... If you actually stick to it, you'll see a change in the scale and in your clothes within the first few days. Just tell yourself how badly you want this, and when you are about to cave and take a bite of something- remember you CAN DO IT! |

I'm a big fan of the no sugar added Fudgesicles. And I've heard several people raving about the warm brownie. I've not tried it, but it could be OK...
Keep trying. And it may help to just get that stuff out of the house for the next two weeks. Can't eat everything in sight if it's not in sight, KWIM? Much better to eat everything in sight when it's green beans and chicken :D |

| Thanks for the support, thats a good idea to get rid of everything... I hate wasting food that I bought recently, especially being a college student but I can't afford to put on the lbs either. What brand is the Fudgesicles that you buy? Also, I read in the book that it is good to take Metamucil before you eat. I bought some and was wondering if anyone else does that, I don't mind taking a pill a day or something but no more than that! Also, I checked out that huge recipe list posted on this site...any favorites of yours for P1? I'm thinking about making the spinach and mushroom frittata to freeze for breakfasts. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it as I have limited support from family and friends as they can't relate to me with weight issues! |

Maybe donate it to a homeless shelter? Give it to someone else on your floor (if you're in a dorm, that is)? Trade a bag of chips for a bag of salad?
Quote: What brand is the Fudgesicles that you buy?
I just buy the regular ol' Popsicles brand. The box is yellow and it says No Sugar Added above the big word Fudgesicles. They're yummy, and hit a sweet and cold craving just right!

The book says to take Metamucil to "lower the glycemic index of any meal" (p. 55). it seems to be in the section of balancing fats, fiber, and sugars. I don't do this, but others may. I just avoid stuff with lots of sugar in it and get my fiber from veggies.

You can definitely poke around the forums and see what people are actually eating. There's lots of recipes, yeah, but I find it more helpful to go scan through the Your Diet Journal forum--see what's really going on the plate, you know? Experiment and find out what works for you! |

The warm brownies are to die for!! You will definitely be put off by the ingredients, but they come out delicious. Leftovers do have to be refrigerated.
Try them. They will satisfy your sweet tooth, especially with a couple of tbls of LIte Cool Whip on top. |

are you talking abou the bean ones or the one with peanut butter, powdered milk, and splenda? I make single servings of those in the microwave....yum! Although I've thought about making a multi serving batch in the food processor up to the point before you add the sf syrup and keeping it in the fridge - it's so fast in the food processer.... |

| OK, I'd not heard of the bean brownies LOL Sounds, um, heavenly? I know beans can be smuggled into a lot of things, but somehow beans and brownies are just two words that don't go together LOL |

Thanks, Debby. In the meantime, I found this recipe somewhere in the dessert thread - Lord knows how!!! Thank Heavens the recipes are so darn good because the search function stinks!!!
I tried the receipe last night and it was delicious. I used the white chocolate sf ff pudding and the Smucker's Natural creamy PB. I ate very little because of the light Cool Whip. My math is terrible, but I figure this must make 12 servings because of the Cool Whip. I wonder if you could use some of the 100 calories against the Cool Whip and have a bit more of the dessert.
Peanut Butter Whip
1 pkg.instant sugar free,fat free pudding
(white chocolate, butterscotch, vanilla work well)
1 1/2 C cold milk
1/4 C. Peanut Butter
1 1/2 C light cool whip
Mix pudding and milk beat 1-2 minutes....starts to thicken.. stir in peanut butter and then fold in cool whip... chill and eat |

Cool Whip is limited to 2 Tbls. daily not because of calories, but the ingredients (which are not especially SB friendly).
This recipe also has twice the daily PB allowance.
Also for anyone not sure, the SF, FF pudding is not allowed in P1 (since the OP is in Phase 1).
There are probably similar recipes that are a bit more SB friendly in the recipe forum.
Keep in mind that not "all" of the recipes that are posted there are "all" that good for SB.
Sometimes you have to use your own good judgement... :D
Edit to add:
This recipe from the SB Daily Dish came in my email today, sounds good and is P1 friendly!....
Chilled Espresso Custard (Phase 1)
Makes 4 servings
Description
Complement your meal with coffee at its best — a simply lovely baked custard of rich-tasting espresso.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups 1 percent milk
2 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons sugar substitute
2 teaspoons espresso powder or instant decaffeinated coffee 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Lemon twists, for garnish
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar substitute, espresso powder or coffee, and vanilla extract until well-blended. Pour into four 6-ounce custard cups or ramekins and place in a 10-inch skillet.
Fill the skillet with water to 1/2 inch from the tops of the custard cups. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the cups from the skillet, cover with plastic wrap touching the surface of the pudding, and refrigerate for 3 hours, or until chilled. Garnish with the cinnamon and lemon twists. |

A really great P1 dessert is the NSA added fudgescicle, zapped just until it is soft, with a bit of natural PB stirred in. Oh it is good!
Now, I am off to look at that warm brownie recipe... |
