I was talking with my friend the other day. If someone is having chest pains and thing that they are having a heart attack would it be good to take an asperin? I heard mixed things about this. From what I hear most of the time that someone has chest pains it is just acid indigestion but I guess this could put someone into a panic if the pains are severe enough.

If someone is having chest pains and thinks they are having a heart attack, I think the best thing to do would be to call 911 and have a medical professional make a diagnosis. Aspirin won't help acid indigestion as it will irritate the stomach lining even more. I had a friend at work who went through this. We just called 911 and he got an ambulance trip to the hospital. It was just stomach related, but I wasn't going to take any chances. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah I agree with you 100% but what if it is one of those questionable moments where it is not severe enough to go to the hospital.

Have you ever had one of those? I mean maybe I am a bit paranoid but especially when I was very overweight every time I had a pain in my chest I got worried. At that time they were saying that even at the first sign of a heart attack taking aspirin could save your life because it acts as a blood thinner.

I did. I actually got put on baby aspirin and it made the acid reflux I didnt know I had full blown and like stated by RedRox it irritated my stomach lining and now I am on medication for it.

Sometimes GERD/ acid reflux can cause chest pain really bad. I had it for months.

It is very common for people to experience mild heart attacks and chalk it up to indigestion. This means that damage goes undetected until they have "the big one". Chest pain in any form lasting more than a few minutes should be attended to as soon as possible. If you experience shortness of breath and/or radiating pain down your arm you need to call 911 immediately. Heart attacks are silent killers in women, most never experience any symptoms.

Dont get me wrong even though I had that pain I was in the er 3 times and the docs 2 times within 2 weeks! I dont milk up chest pain very easily.

For years my father ate tums, etc and was on blood pressure pills, He was a little overweight, maybe 40 lbs not bad for a guy who is 6'2". Who would have known why he started calling me and my siblings more often for months. He was a truck driver. He was driving along side his buddy he stopped to get gas with him. Told his friend he was not feeling good and he was going to get back in his truck and lay down. He got back in it before he even turned the key, he died instantly of a heart attack. He was 44.

What I am saying is no matter what age get your chest pain checked. I will be 30 this year, which is not young for a heart attack. At my fathers wake my grandma told me her brother had his first one in his early 20's.
