Assuming the canned peaches are canned in Splenda and water (no juice, no sugar), it looks generally OK to me. You can have one more serving of NF/LF milk or yogurt if you like, since you're in P2.
You're introducing two P2 foods at once (peas and peaches), though, which is a little faster than recommended. Tomorrow you might limit it to just one. |

Peas are just a veggie now, so I don't think they would be used as a special transition item. This is just like Red's post on carrots from a similar "my first day on p2" thread from today.
Canned fruits aren't a great idea for SB-- they are generally considered limited, even if they don't add any sugar. The canning process breaks things down and raises the GI. |

| thanks to both of you for the responses, i was going by the new book and trying 1 fruit and starchy item the first week. the peas, accordnig to the new book are considered a starchy veg and to count as a starch/grain serving. i wasn't sure about the peaches either, but i need to go to the store and it was all i had for now, but they would not have been my 1st choice either. |

| Ah, I thought they changed peas and recategorized them to veggies (in with the carrots) for the Supercharged book. I haven't read much of it yet, but that's what I heard here. |

Kim... that's what I have, too. From the P2 foods list:
"VEGETABLES
Carrots 1/2 cup
Peas-green 1/2 cup - Added/Moved out of starches" |

This entry on the food list posted on this site isn't accurate. The new book adds peas (1/2 cup) as a P2 vegetable, but doesn't move them out of starches. Green peas (1/2 cup) are listed as a starch on p. 254.
Having said that, the new book also suggests a speedier transition than this board has listed. It recommends adding one whole grain and one fruit the first week of P2. So the menu, as posted, looks OK. |

might be my fault.... I think Red updated the lists from me....
Peas are considered a starchy veggie and 1/2 cup is counted as a starch/grain serving
citation page 254 of the The South Beach Diet Supercharged book
as for how Dr. A suggests transitioning into phase 2 in the new book, it's better than the original book but I still think from personal experience that the slower the transition the better... |
