Ok, so I completed my first week of phase one and I am very happy with the results. I lost a total of 5lbs. I was very surprised to say the least, I was not expecting to exceed 3lbs on my first week but hey, I am not complaining.

I also have a question. Is it ok to replace one of my snacks or maybe a meal with a protein shake? I do resistance weight more than I do cardio and was wondering if it was ok for me to have the protein shake. The brand is optimal nutrition ( 100% whey), 1 scoop has 130 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat, 30 mg cholesterol, 100mg of sodium, total carb is 4g, 1g of sugar and 24g of protein.

Thanks

Sorry- I can't add any advice about the protien shake. But I can say that I also JUST finished week one of Phase I and am very proud of the results.

An unfortunate change of events during a family get-together led me to eating pizza for dinner on Day 6. My only consolation is that I only ate two small slices instead of what I could have normally packed away!

All in all, I have lost 8 lbs this first week. I plan to go full steam ahead into week two, and to add exercise this week as well.

mmm, god....pizza...
You should be ashamed! :P

Instead of an icky protein shake, you should try making a smoothie with ice cubes and fat free/sugar free Popsicles

I am also curious to know what the effects of protein shakes are. I have always had them for breakfast, mixed with soy milk, now I am adding sf chocolate syrup for sweetening. Anybody have any input on how extra protein effects the SBD?

Hi Folks! I started SB 2 weeks ago yesterday and lost 13 lbs! :) I am entering slowwwwwwwwwwwllllllyyyyyy phase 2 (one toast yesterday and thinking of half an apple today...). I feel great plus, I am getting closer to a 'normal' bmi. And almost at half way done towards my goal I should start on the exercise now, I've been stretching a lot but need to get moving more. It's going to be hard because I will be traveling all summer. I packed my resistance cords so we will see. I am so scared, I am going to Italy...Pastaland.... Don't you think sometimes people around you are not always supportive about your goals? 2 of my friends (including my boyfriend) are but I had people making me feel guilty of being on a meal plan. They are like: bah, that's how you are, why doing this? blabla.....

The funny thing is that I NEEDED to be. You know 176 pounds at 5'4 not super healthy! I don't think I looked terrible (I am pretty comfortable with my body) but 13 pounds lighter (18 since May) makes me feel great. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I get a lot of my support here through your stories, accomplishment and struggles. You are all my support and thought it would be nice to say thank you. I owe you a lot. I keep going, my goal is a healthy 140- I don't like being too thin nor my does my boyfriend ;)

Thanks for everything!

Congratulations everybody !
Edukate: I think that if you cheat one day it won't make much difference in your overall weight lost ( although it might affect your cravings), as long as you get right back on track you should be fine. I mean we are only human!
Cabagge: the protein shake is really good actually. We have different flavors, such as vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ( my favorite, of course!) and I mix one cup of 1% milk and ice cubes. It takes as good as an ice cream shake. I think it depends on what brand you use.

Muleen: there are many benefits to protein. Here is a website with some information about whey protein http://www.wheyoflife.org/faq.cfm

Coucourou: It is a good idea to take your resistance cords. My husband travels very often. Sometimes he needs to stay in hotels and he takes his resistance cords with him. They are very handy. Please do not listen the people that are trying to question your weight loss, keep up the good work! I think 140 is a very realistic weight for 5'4. I am 5'2 and I would like to stay within the 115-118 range.
Beachbody2008: Congratulations! I am in day 12 and have not lost much since week one. My weight is also fluctuates which is normal... that is why I should not be stepping on the scale everyday , but I can't help it. The important thing is not to get discourage when your weight is up a few pounds.

I started at 131 and some ounces and today is my day 7 and I am now 127.6, so a little less than 3 pounds. I wasnt expecting much more since I dont have too much to lose to begin with. I didnt cheat either. I would have hoped for more though.

coucourou I started at 175 at 5'4" last Monday, and I've lost about 6.5 pounds. I have a good friend that knows I'm on this diet and didn't understand why I couldn't have candy at the movie theater last weekend, hahaha. Soldier on though, it's great that your boyfriend is supportive too. But remember, you're doing this for you! :)

or do your own search... that barely scratched the surface of the sheer volume of threads on this particular topic. (Use "protein and shake" without the quotes as that will find threads with both words in it, rather than all those with one or the other if you just put in "protein shake".)
