Hey guys.
I haven't been on the forum in a long time.
I would like to lose 10 more pounds and I am finding that what I am eating is not doing the trick.
I used to be more lax about the SB allowances and a about a year ago I really gave it my all and buckled down. I now eat only 2 servings of grain a day and 2-3 fruits. However I am not losing any more and even have put a few pounds on!!!
Here is my daily menu---- please offer suggestions as I really don't know what else to do! (and i am going to start excersizing so I know that will help but I want to do all I can in terms of food too)
Breakfast: 1 morningstar sausage pattie and 2 egg whites with 1 yolk.
1 cup of coffee with splenda and fat free milk
Lunch: albacore steak lemon and ginger- 36 grams protien. no sugar.
1 slice american cheese melted on top
Dinner: chicken cutlets/ stir fried veggies and tofu/ chicken nuggets/ bean soup... I mix it up
snacks: grapefruit, apple, fat free yogurt with ff sf jello and a handful of choc. chips, cheese
and every night for dessert I make the big breakfast oatmeal cookie and use 2 tablespoons natural PB. (1/2 c. oatmeal, non fat dry milk, 1 banana, handful of choc. chips)
those are the only carbs I eat all day.
I did drop weight initially when i stopped eating pita with lunch or brown rice with dinner.
Is this good???????????????????? how do i lose more??? thanks!!!!!!! |

i'd add veggies here

i'd dump the american cheese
I'd add veggies
what's your good fat at lunch
Quote: Dinner: chicken cutlets/ stir fried veggies and tofu/ chicken nuggets/ bean soup... I mix it up
so chicken or tofu withe some veggies (nowhere near 4.5 cups right)
are the nuggets just chicken breast?
is the bean soup homemade?
Quote: snacks: grapefruit, apple, fat free with ff sf jello and a handful of choc. chips, cheese
is the yogurt NSA plain yogurt?
a handful of chocolate chips could be a lot of chocolate....

1 large banana is two fruits.
I'd spread out my veggies more during the day
maybe move the night time snack to earlier in the day and rotate the night time snack
are you getting enough good fats
are you getting enough water and dairy you did mention yogurt.... |

yeah. ok i must add veggies! got it!
I thought the american cheese (or mozzerella) is a good fat?
I make the bean soup, the chicken nuggets are a last resort since they are breaded but with 2 small kids and not alot of time it happens.
i didn't realize a banana was 2 fruits! yikes!! i guess i've got to scale back on the other fruits though out the day.
the yogurt is NSA and i really try and keep the choc. chips to a minimum.
It's hard b/c i don't really enjoy protien plain so i add cheese to the fish for lunch and sometimes lightly bread the chicken at dinner and add the choc. chips to the yogurt. These extras help me stomach all the straight up protien so it'd be hard to cut them out.
in regards to veggies i often have frozen broccoli (with cheese....you get the idea) and i've been trying to have more salads.
guess i've got to add more veggies in general.
thanks
keep it comin!!!! :D |

Good fats come from things like olive or canola oil (or things made from those oils, like dressing or mayo), olives, avocado, etc. The fat in cheese is animal fat, which is not a good fat-- we need to minimize those for heart health.
It sounds like you might be overdoing the protein and thinking of it as a high protein plan, which it isn't. |
