I am on the last day of my first week of P2. Would replacing my 75 calories SF treat with another serving of fruit be cheating? I'm a little wary of Frankenfoods and would like to minimize my intake of Splenda, etc. I'm neither diabetic nor prediabetic, and have no tendency towards gaining weight on my midsection. I don't want to go down the slippery slope of cheating, but I don;t want to be an obsessive, anal rententive nutcase either.
Advice? |

| The 75 calorie "treat" is not a requirement of the plan - its for things like gum, mints, drinks - as well as a sweet treat. If you are having 3 meals and up to 3 snacks and if you chose them based on the food list and template you can eat whichever whenever. Fruit has a lot of natural sugar, so until you are well settled on p2, you might not want to have more than a couple servings a day. If you continue to drop weight at 2 fruit and a couple of starch/grain servings, then add another fruit. |

| You're already nearly on your second week of P2 anyway, so have the second serving of fruit and don't worry about substiting it for anything. If it causes cravings, you'll know you need to cut back or try a different kind. (Be sure to eat it along with something else, such as a protein or fat). The division of early P2 into week 1, week 2, etc. are more of a guideline; there's nothing magical about 7 days as opposed to 8 or 6. |

| I never eat any of the SF junk. I think it helps some people get through the early part, but it's actually better to rely on fruit for sweets instead. |
