I'm in phase 1, 6days, is the lack of color in my stool due to the lack of grains or what. I thought this site would get me some answers, but I suppose it's something no one wants to talk about. oh well I tried.

it is most likely a GI disorder, do not see any reason for it to be related to SBD unless it's been gradual and you're just noticing it as it changes. And FWIW, this board can be kind of slow at times, depending on who's working and who's online. If you have a medical emergency, best not to wait for answers here. Based on quick research I'd make an appt with your physician. The following list is asociated with color changes in a toddler and is from Mayo clinic. I didn't find anything from WebMD or NIH

Medical conditions that may cause light-colored or white stool include:

Liver infections, such as hepatitis
Biliary cirrhosis
Gallstones
Anatomic abnormalities of the intestines or bile ducts present at birth (congenital)
Inborn errors of metabolism
Sclerosing cholangitis
Narrowing (strictures) of bile ducts
Cysts
Tumors
A side effect of certain medications, such as some antibiotics, antifungal drugs and antacids

Ya know ... just as I was nearing the end of P1 - say the last 4 or 5 days, I also noticed a change in my stool. Yes my dear friends - I'm a stool starer. :}

Anyway, yes - it was much lighter in color than I've ever witnessed before. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was clear - but much lighter than I'd ever seen before. But once I started P2 and introduced back some foods, it's way more normal now.

If you're truly concerned or have pain or cramping, I'd definately call the doctor for advice. You know your body - and if it feels stressed -then it probably is.

Have I helped you out - probably not. :} But just wanted to let you know that I had similiar "output" as yourself.

Interesting... I noticed the other day that mine was also lighter than usual. I figured it has something to with my new way of eating. Probably common in some people. Diet has a lot to do with that...

as a long term IBS sufferer I can tell you what I know

lighter color stools are stools that have spent LESS time in your body.
