Scratch that... of course it works now!

I am a moderator on another forum and I have no problems updating my ticker.

For 3 days, I've been trying to get one on here. Anyone else having this same problem?

Thanks,

Tina

Here are my suggestions since I don't know what each individual problem is:

1. There is a tutorial of sorts as a sticky thread in the Technical Issues forum here. Good place to start, although some of the info might be a bit outdated.
2. Don't use the tickerfactory. You can get their code to work here, but you need to edit out the embedded spaces first. They are "disguised" as line breaks, so unless you are comfortable with a text editor or deleting and replacing characters, it may or may not be something you are willing to tackle.
3. Always be sure to use the BBCode or phpBB code options. HTML code does not work very well here for tickers.
4. You need more than just the URL. At a minimum, you need the IMG tags surrounding the URL, but all the other text is what makes it clickable back to the source if implemented properly. This is especially important for tickerfactory as it will take you back to their edit page when you need to update it.

Good luck! :)

For those of you who do still choose to use tickerfactory, if for some reason you didn't make it linkable, and just surrounded the address with image tags, you still can go edit it. (Assuming you remember your password.) It's not easy, but here's how.

Go into your profile editor on this site, and look for the block where your signature is. You need to find the "code" for your signature, which is probably right before the 'weight.png' part of the image.

For example, the image in my signature is: http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w2Ejcqq/weight.png. Those of you who don't have it clickable probably have something in your profile that looks like this (without the spaces I added to make it all appear):
[img ]http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w2Ejcqq/weight.png[ /img]

Which gives you my ticker, it's just not clickable:

To get to the editable address, find the 'code' right before the weight.png:
http:/tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w2Ejcqq/weight.png
and put it at the end of this address:
http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/CODE GOES HERE/

(So, mine is http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/w2Ejcqq/)

This will take you to the page where you can edit your ticker (you'll need to remember the password you set up.) While you're there, grab the bbCode, and then delete the spaces in it as RedRox explained above. Then you won't have to mess with this again.

If this doesn't sound like something you're comfortable doing, you probably shouldn't use tickerfactory in the first place, because (as RedRox pointed out) it's MUCH more complicated than the others. (I like it because I like the images better, but it would be nice to be able to edit it right from my signature line.)
