Fellow SBD pals,
As you can see by my signature, I have tried this diet a few years ago, found success then for whatever reason, stopped. After gaining most of my weight back, I restarted and have been fairly successful once again. This is a woe that I believe in and I feel much better when I am following it.
Either way, The surprise of my life came last weekend.
My DH is a larger man. He has been diagnosed as "clinically obese" but he has resisted following SBD. I didn't push but it sure was difficult to try to eat healthy when everyone around here was eating chicken wings. I won't even go into the health risks that he faces because of his condition.

This weekend........out of the blue. DH started going to the gym with me and also said that he was going to follow SBD guidelines. He isn't going to start with P1, but he is following P2 (where I am) and is trying to eat healthy. (baby steps!) We actually packed our lunches together today and he asked my opinion on what to pack. He has been supportive in the past but it was always "that diet".
I am just so happy that he is going to try this WOE and wanted to share with all.

Thanks for the ear!

Hey Dayna, congrats on you getting back on track!

Reg your husband, that goes to prove that the will to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle has to come from inside of us. I remember dieting for all kinds of wrong reasons .... it was only when I felt ready to challenge myself that I was successful. Sometimes we pass through a moment of realization ... where we actually wake up and smell the coffee. The advantage your husband has is that of being a male (not stereotyping here!), but males do tend to lose weight faster, so that will keep him more motivated!

I see you're from Michigan ... I was there for about a year, and I loved it! I used to live in Trenton ... but I also loved up north and frankenmuth!

That's a great development. Sometimes we take out health for granted even though we know better. It's good he's trying to correct thing now before something forces it.

It should help both of you out since your doing it together.

Thank you both for the response and the words of encouragement.

Maltaguy- Yea, I agree........men lose weight faster- in most cases. It is just a sad fact of nature but hopefully this will encourage DH to continue.

I know both of those cities that you mentioned. Trenton- Played many hockey games there (or at least my DH and son have- I keep the metal bleachers warm) and Frankenmuth a familiar landmark to those of us who live in MI.
I am near Mt. Clemens. North of Detroit.

Thx again- have a great day!
Dayna
