Welcome to P2! It came just in time for BBQ weekend! And I must say, I went on a total fruit binge. I know i shouldn't have, but I guess it's better than a burger and potato chip binge. My finace and I ate about a pound of fresh cherries yesterday  but they were tasty.

for the BBQ I had Laura's lean ground beef patties with ff cheese and no bun.

Anyone else have any trials and tribulations this weekend? Overall I feel like I wasn't too bad, I can't yell at myself too much for eating too many fruits. Lucky for me I haven't had any :craving so far yet today

What's on the menu everyone?
b-V8
s- strawberries
l- salad w/ ff cheese and tuna
s- cucumbers
d- not sure, looks like sirloin with fresh steamed broccoli

My post from 5/26:

Hi everyone. Happy day 1 of p2!

Couple questions: what is everyone adding? are we going to transition to the p2 thread?

This weekend has been challenging. I had mentioned before that my sis was having a rough pregnancy. Well she delivered via emergency c-section Friday night 2months early. She and the baby are both doing well, but I have spent most of this weekend in the hospital. My meals have been SB friendly, but my snacks have been off (whatever avail. at hospital). I am going to weigh tomorrow morning as I will be back home then, plus it is the scale at work I have been using.

I have been happy with my p1 and am still planning to transition to p2 and monitor my cravings. Does this sound ok to do? Should I hold off on my p2 until after I weigh?

droppinem, is that a complete meal list? That doesn't seem like nearly enough food. I'd need protein at breakfast, and my snacks don't ever fill me up unless I have some protein or good fats with them. (I like a little cottage cheese with my fruit, and some hummus or dressing or cheese with my veggies.) Just curious if that's similar to what you've been eating in P1 and how you're doing with that amount of food.

enm, good job doing as well as you can, given that you didn't have the best options avaliable! Don't stress yourself about eating something non-SB. As long as you're working on it, and making the best choices you can in any given situation, you're doing SB the way it was meant to. There are going to be times that we can't eat the way we would like, but don't ever let yourself look at it as a failure - just try to avoid them if you can, and if not, get right back on SB as soon as you can! Also, if you're not having cravings, move on to P2 regardless of your weigh-in. P1 is just to break your cravings and get your blood sugar under control, so go ahead and jump right in.

Welcome to P2 everyone! Way to go on finishing P1!!

hey ladies!

good to see you made it to p2. i have to confess I have been over here for a while now but I missed you guys. not many people to chat with. I have been doing well. I feel good and the cravings are still pretty much gone. I go the the gym and just got a new program set up by the trainer there so i am feeling pretty good these days.

I bring my own lunch to school and that helps a lot. i don't know how much I have gained or lost since I don't use the scale at all but I do know that over the last week I have been keeping the grains to whole wheat and having very little fruit. a sample of my menu today was:

b- tomato juice, an egg, slice of cheese
s- beans
l - salad with a bit of cheese, 2 small stuffed cabbage leaves with veggies and a touch of hamburger (yes I know! i don't eat meat at all but my husband made them and begged me to try.) also very small amount of brown rice
s- hummus and veggies
before the gym - soya cup
d- stirfry with veggies and salmon, a very small serving up buckwheat noodles

I feel pretty good and my clothes look good on me again so that means I must be going in the right direction. i defintely have a different attitude about food and that is the best thing of all.

So glad to see you all here!

Yup, that was pretty much my day today. I have more on other days. and my servings are really big. Like for lunch, I'm super stuffed right now. a 3oz package of tuna on a salad that was probably about 3 cups of veggies and some cheese. That will hold me over until dinner at least. I only lost 2 lbs on P1, but I'm not discouraged. I'm doing this more for my health as I'm in an "ideal" weight range right now.

Hi everyone!

Sure is nice to be in Phase 2, but I've been taking it slow and easy. Yesterday, I added some whole grain cereal at breakfast and some blackberries (yum!) at dinner. Today, more whole grain cereal at breakfast, probably more blackberries and perhaps some brown rice with dinner. We had a SBD friendly picnic yesterday, so the holiday was no problem!

enm, sounds like you did very well in a stressful situation. Hope your sister and her babe are thriving!

Onward and upward in P2!

Happy Phase 2 everyone.

I had an 'OK' holiday break. I didn't go crazy, but I had some difficulties with getting enough meals in, and a few times the right foods. My daughter worked all weekend. She works nights. So I had my 2yr old granddaughter. Oh, boy. She's a delight, but she is also a handful. So I got plenty of exercise, but it was do what I could when I could.

So I forgot to weigh yesterday. Hurried getting ready for work this AM and ate before I thought about weighing. I won't weigh then. I'm a get up, get coffee going, shower, weigh naked kind of person. I don't want to add even an ounce! So I haven't weighed yet. But I'm not worried about it. I might even wait until next Monday.

I have made so many changes that are positive I'm just proud of myself. So the scale is important because I want to lose weight. But there are so many other things going on that need to be changed too.

What will I add back first? Fruit. I miss it.

xoxo, you mentioned apple with your PB. Yum! I agree. I've had that on celery these past 2 weeks. It's a good snack. I get a veggie and some protein. We do get to eat a lot on this plan.

Got to get back to work. Playing catch-up after a 3-day weekend is real work!

if you haven't read the transition to P2 thread, it has lots of good ideas including the suggestion of adding only one grain or fruit the first few days, then another. Of course, it is always personal choice, but more successful SBD'ers recommend a slow start so you know what affects your body, causes cravings, satisfies etc.

I just did sneak back in - took a break! I'm glad you mentioned that. I was intending on the fruit because I miss it almost as much as bread. Bread is more of a problem for me. So I was going to hold off on it for a week maybe. Now that you mentioned waiting to see how my body reacts it makes a lot of sense. I'll check out the transitioning thread. Thanks for the advice.

I have had bread [pita] 2x since I started p2...I don't seem to crave it as much, but remember from last time that once I started having a slice, it was a natural progression to a sandwich with 2 slices....and since most breads are almost 2 servings per slice - it wasn't working for me.

veggies are so much easier to put together that I frequently end up at the end of hte day saying - wait - where's my other food....

I am so happy to be in P2. I was sooo ready for strawberries, I had 4 plus one apple with my regular menu. I have to say it was a great feeling to be excited to eat an apple. Usually it is what is left over in my lunch, bruised and battered. I have joined the local CSA for the summer. I will get one box of veggies and one box of fruit delivered each week from the local farmers. I am really excited about this. There will be no way to veer away from fruits/veggies. Good luck everyone!

"I'm a get up, get coffee going, shower, weigh naked kind of person. I don't want to add even an ounce!" Beb I am with you on that, no point in ruining your day by getting on the scale after dinner.

I talked to roomie last night and we're definitely doing CSA next year. We can't this year because the ones that still have shares left are only full shares that are too expensive (and too much food!!) for us, but I've already stuck a reminder on my calendar to get started early next year!

Good Wednesday Morning everyone.

I did it. I weighed this morning. I remembered before I even had a cup of coffee. I have lost 3#. I'm very happy with 3#. I knew it wouldn't be big numbers, and for me 3# in 2 weeks is big numbers. I've been working on getting my act together for weeks now. So I couldn't possibly expect to lose a lot.

The support and encouragement all of you offer helps tremendously. I don't want to go sit somewhere for a weekly meeting, i.e. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, TOPS, etc. Believe me. Been there. Did that. This way of eating, this healthy lifestyle, is very doable. Yes, I could slide back into my old ways and I have before. As I said in the beginning - this is a restart. It's been awhile and I started SB and just didn't stick with it. Totally my fault. It is just so simple to stsick with it though and you get a tremendous amount of food to eat.

I printed the food list for Phase 2. I'm amazed at watermelon being on the avoid or eat rarely list. I'm amazed because for me - I eat it. I spend the rest of the day or evening running to the bathroom. It's as though I drank an entire gallon of water. There isn't much to it. I guess it has a lot of natural sugar or something. Any idea?

I really need to start playing around with some of the recipes. it will keep me going, keep me from getting bored with any of the foods. Plus, I enjoy cooking.

Back to work for now. Have a great day on the beach everyone.

Way to go on the 3# beb! That's 1.5 per week, which is a good, healthy amount! If you lose too fast you most likely won't keep it off - a slow, steady weight loss is much more sustainable. You're doing a great job - keep it up!
