I have a few recipes that are otherwise healthy but they call for Brown Sugar. Isn't Brown Sugar a form of sugar? What can I use to substitute?
I have seen that Splenda has a brown sugar product but from what I understand it is 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 splenda. you are STILL getting the brown sugar.
What do you use in this situation? Do you just omit the item or toss the recipe?
Thanks for your thoughts on this one.

brown sugar is just sugar with molasses.
brown sugar splenda is still sugar... so yes you still get the sugar.
i do use it at thanksgiving for my apple crisp. but other than that I don't bake anything that calls for brown sugar. I rarely bake except for muffins with whole wheat and fruit... |

You can use brown sugar substitute (there is one I think you can buy online). Or you can make it - mix together splenda and sugar-free maple syrup [1 c. splenda to 1/4 c. syrup].
Or depending on the recipe, just sub. artificial sweetener. For instance, if it's muffins, I just use plain ole splenda. But that's me. 8) |
