If anyone is interested, I just bought one of these and I will be incorporating it in my fitness with the rock climbing gym, kayaking and sand volleyball. I can let you know how it's working if you're thinking of getting one. My wife just picked it up from the store, I can't wait to play it tonight.

I think that things looks like lots of fun. I don't ever want it to replace my workout routine, but I think it would be a great thing to add to it and get me up off the couch!

I would love to know what you think of it.

ladybugnessa, the fits are impossible to get right now unless you have it pre-ordered. The Wii's themselves are becoming more available. You need to go to Target or Walmart on Sunday mornings, I think they get shipments in on Saturday nights. Some of the games that come with the Wii are pretty good to just get you off the couch and moving around. The boxing actually got me working up a sweat. What's great about the Wii is it's user friendly for all ages, my father in law of 60 loves it as much as my 5yr old nephew.

I doubt it would replace a workout routine, I think it's something for entertainment that gives you some physical exercise, I really doubt you'd lose that much weight from it, unless you did it 3hrs a day, 5days a week. I'll let you know tomorrow how good it works.

I'm out of the country for the next few weeks, but had somebody pick me up a Wii Fit when it came out yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying it out when I get home; it may not be the same as a full-on exercise session, but I think it should be a fun way to incorporate a little bit of extra exercise into the day!

In case anyone's interested, an American man in Japan decided to do an experiment; how much weight could he lose doing Wii fit everyday for 7 weeks, without changing his diet? Here is his journal/webpage:

Or, just skip to the final results:

Very interesting! Can't wait to try it; Kev2380, you'll have to let us know how it is!

I played it last night and I was wrong. You can get a workout from it. I did the yoga and strength training exercises and within 30min I had a good sweat going on. The games that come with it are pretty fun. The more time you spend on it the more games unlock. That's motivation to stay on. You can cheat some of the yoga ones, if you do, it kind of defeats the purpose of getting the Wii fit. The scale is the only thing I'm skeptical of. From the reviews I've read it said it's one of the most accurate scales you can buy. I wento the gym yesterday, they have a digital scale, I weighed myself and was 186. Good news that's a 4lb weight loss. Bad news the Wii fit said I was 181. I doubt I lost 5lbs in 5hrs. Also, when I was working out on it, one time it stopped and said my weight had changed from the first time I weighed myself, I thought maybe it was the sweat at first. But I didn't think it could be that sensitive. I let it weigh me again, this time I was two pounder heavier. I did drink some water. About 2 glasses, I don't think that equals 2lbs.

Anyways, I'll play with it some more and let you guys know. There's exercises for these areas, aerobics, strength, yoga and balance. The goal is to increase your posture and strengthen your core. When you first use the board you're like this thing is a gimmick. Then when you figure out exactly how it works you'll see that it's working your body. I'd say it's worth the $89.

oh and just wondering but have you tried the "jogging" part yet? How does that work????

A word of advice asmommy, if you haven't worked out in awhile take it slow on the fit. I kind of over did it and pulled my calf.

The jogging is pretty lame in my opinion, it doesn't even use the board. You put the Wii remote in your pocket and run in place. It's not very enjoyable. I don't think running in place is that beneficial for you either.

After doing most of the exercises on the Wii Fit, I can see there ok but will not make you lose a lot of weight. You would have to do something that will increase your heart rate. I hope after awhile it doesn't become a really expensive scale. :?

Is it still enjoyable? I would never want it to replace my workout, but I would think it would be fun to use to work on the yoga and strength moves when I don't have the motivation to do otherwise. But I wondered if after a few times at each type of exercise you get bored with it?

Eeeeeeh, it's enjoyable, I guess it's difficult because it's still exercise. Sometimes you just want to play a game. I'm going to use it tonight for some strength training, the exercises definately work you. Enjoyable? Good question, do you like working out? For me I like the actual working out, it's the time between getting my butt motivated and getting to the gym that's annoying. This might resolve that.

My DH and I have been thinking of doing the Wii as well. However, those darn things are sooooo hard to find. We're gonna have to do a major search and snatch one up ASAP!! I bet they'll resurface before the Christmas madness. ;)
