Going to Penzeys...

a highlight of my vacation coming up in 3 and a half weeks is a trip to an actual Penzey's store [www.penzeys.com] I probably have 25-30 bottles of herbs and spices from them - but I know I'm going to go crazy in the store!

Has anyone tried the cheese blends [romano, parmesan + herbs] or other blends that you just love? I have a few blends that I like, a couple I'm blah about...but I know I"m going to spend a bundle in there!

Any ideas? What about the dip/salad dressing blends that you add to your own oil.

is it sad that I'm excited about going to Penzeys??!!!!!

Hee! No, it's not sad that you're excited about going there; there's one about an hour north of here and while I really, really want to go, I have to talk myself out of it cause I KNOW I'd spend way too much, and my spice cabinet is already bursting with Penzey's containers. :)

I haven't tried any of the cheese blends, but I have tried the Creamy Peppercorn mix. I wasn't crazy about it as a salad dressing, but it wasn't bad as a blend to mix in with burgers. They sent me a sample of their Sandwich Sprinkle and it tastes great, but it's REALLY heavy on the salt. As far as their other blends go, I like the Chicago Steak Seasoning mixed with ground turkey for burgers, and the Mural of Flavor on various vegetables. I also recommend their sausage seasonings for things other than sausage; I use the bratwurst seasoning on veggies sometimes, and have made turkey "bratwurst" burgers with it, as well.
