Hi! Just got the fasting results for my blood sugar test last week!!!
Three months ago I had 122 as my glucose fasting number (if it's 126 you're considered to have type 2 diabetes so it was pretty high) Today it is 91!!!!!!! So I'm within "normal" range now!!!!
Three months ago my A1c was 6.2 This is what they look at also for diabetes. I'm now 5.7. The first number was high but still within "normal" but to be watched!!! the 2nd one is fine but I'd like to see it a bit lower if possible. For some reason she didn't order my cholestrol to be re-checked. I'd have REALLY liked to have seen what that shows as that too should have gone down!!! I see her on Thursday so will find out what the deal is!
Just wanted to share this!!! I'm estatic!!! I'm REALLY encouraged with SB and Redrox, you were right about it affecting our "numbers". I was somewhat skeptical back then because I'd been struggling for so long and thought I was doing what I needed to do (eating right, exercise, supplements etc.) to be healthy but always seemed to be struggling with my weight and also my blood-work numbers. |

| I'm really happy for you! :) I don't know if SB works this way for everyone, but if you understand the biochemistry of it all (and I'm not suggesting that I do!), it should improve those numbers assuming no other health issues that you might be working against. That's a pretty dramatic drop though! So very cool!! It was really seeing tangible health related results like this that made me a "believer" and just reinforced that this is the right way to eat and that I needed to figure out how to make it my ongoing lifestyle because it "worked" and clearly the way I had been eating before did not. So keep up the good work! :) |

Thank you for YOUR encouragement as well!!! I've clung to your words that this is a plan that is designed to level out our numbers and weight loss is a pleasant by-product. So far my weight loss isn't dramatic but I know if I keep this up it will be as well.
I also go into a diabetic forum and have read there comments of people who already have it or are about to (as I was) lament that to watch their diet will be SO hard because they LOVE to eat! I just have to watch family members who are diabetic and be reminded that that isn't where I'd want to be! I love to eat as well...but to have all those empty calories and greasey stuff etc. etc. etc., just doesn't seem worth it long-term.
So I exercise and try to mind my diet as closely as possible. |

Woohoo!!!!! Nice!
On the topic of "this is a plan that is designed to level out our numbers and weight loss is a pleasant by-product," I'm always dismayed by the common recommendation that in order to bring those numbers down, you have to eat a low-fat diet and lose some weight. Then people think you can't eat nuts or olive oil and they start eating way too many carbs (if you can't eat fat, and protein usually comes with fat, all that's left are carbs), and of course they're usually the high-glycemic ones. That makes everything worse.
You have to change the fuel intake by eating a balanced diet (good carbs, lean proteins, and good fats), and then that fixes both the numbers and the excess bodyfat. It isn't losing weight that fixes it. |

Kimboroni...you are SO right about low-fat!!! That's what I was doing for almost a year before I found SB!!!! I was really not doing well with weight loss on it AND my blood-work was showing up not that good as well. I knew there HAD to be a way that would work for me but just didn't know what it was. Never mind that the medical community wasn't much help. Although my one doctor did recommend The Zone diet...but it seemed too restrictive for my life-style so I never pursued it. South Beach just never came up!!!
Man, am I ever glad that I found this site and have had ALL of the encouragement and information from it. The moderators have walked the walk and know what they're talking about!!! Thanks!!!!! |

| You know, I love to eat too. I don't see this program as being incompatible at all with loving to eat good quality food that is well prepared and tasty. I think that's a positive actually, not a negative! |
