Because this has been driving me CRAZY and because it's time I checked stuff out myself instead of relying on someone else all the time!!!

Nutrition data:
Avocado ~50 calorie per 2 tbsp [using different sources it comes out about the same]
Olive oil ~ 119 per tbsp

Not all the calories are from fat when eating avocado - so one could surmise that 1/4 cup smashed avocado would be a decent size fat serving, maybe a little under the equivalent compared to olive oil - but when served with a meal you're possibly going to have some added fat in the form of salad dressing or for cooking meats. So, if you use that measurement, 1/2 cup guac assumes quite a bit of added vegetation!

If I am way off course, feel free to set me straight.

I am not exactly sure what you're saying (sorry!) but according to the Food List, 1/3 of an avocado is one fat serving [equivalent to 1 Tbsp. oil].

Under Fats/Oils--
Other Fat Choices:
Avocado - 1/3 whole = 1 TBS oil
Guacamole - 1/2 cup = 1 TBS oil

it was my obsessiveness....there are three sizes of avocado in my grocery store. The one I buy is the very small one - probably half the flesh of the nice big one....so I went for measure. This makes it easier for me to take my little baseball size avocado [almost tennis ball size!!!] and determine if it's 1/3 of the size I buy or 1/3 of the one that's as big as a softball...then we get into the size of hte pit....sometimes, half an avocado is pit, sometimes, it's teeny - so if I know I can have 2 oz....

or am I the only person who has to chose between gargantuan vs teeny avocado.....personally, I'd love to say - okay, I'll have 1/3 of the great big one!!! but in my heart, I would know it might not be okay!

BTW....only with starches, fats, and sweets do I try to 'measure' to this degree - my normal veggies, just pile them on!

ETA: I measured avocado - with peel and pit - weighed 6.5 oz....just the flesh was 4 oz [i told ya'll they were tiny!!!] I'm having guac and chips made from ww pita!
