Hi all! I am Michelle. I'm now on my 2nd go around with SBD and very excited about getting the weight off again.
A few years ago, I was able to successfully lose 60 pounds with SB. I never made it to my goal weight (got within 30 pounds), and then got pregnant! Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I didn't take such great care of my eating and exercise and gained most of it back. Well, two years after giving birth, I am done with excuses. I've tried some other diets, just to see. Nothing would work more than a few weeks. I realized I CANNOT journal my food, I hate counting calories, and in general, I hate measuring every bite I eat. As a busy working mom, it just isn't possible.
Last Monday, I restarted the SBD. So far, I'm doing great. I am having no cravings for anything, and I have rediscovered my love of veggies! Gosh, you really don't realize how sweet some vegetables are until you quit eating artificially sweetened stuff. I had the sweetest tomatoes and bell pepper last night! Ummm...with some of that Ranch dip mix...I could eat those all day!
Anyway, today is my last week of Phase 1 and I am down 8 pounds! I didn't take my measurements week 1, but I will tomorrow. I remember last time on the diet, I lost inches like crazy, even when the number on the scale went down. |

| Well, scratch that. On my "official" Monday weigh-in, I ended up at 209. Still happy with a 4 pound loss on week 1. I do want to get at least 8-10 pounds off in phase 1, but I'll take anything at this point. I have so much to lose, and like most people, I want it gone now. I don't want to wait months. I get so impatient when it comes to weight loss. Well, I know that slow and steady wins the race, so I'm going to be patient, take each day at a time, and get healthy once and for all! |

I've had a pretty good 2nd week of phase 1. I've eaten on plan, but I only exercised once. I'm having a hard time getting exercise in. I have one more week of school, and after that, I am making exercise a priority. I won't have an excuse anymore. I plan on getting up 2 hours before Nicholas and working out each morning.
I finally got around to doing measurements. I plan to track them every 2 weeks, maybe every week.
Calf: 17.5"
Thigh: 28.25"
Hips: 43"
Butt: 45"
Stomach: 40.5"
Waist: 36.5
Chest: 41"
Upper Arm: 14"
I'm down to 210, but now counting it yet, since I don't officially weigh in until Monday. |

I've been so swamped I forgot to post on Monday. I was down to 211 pounds, which means that I lost 6 pounds in phase 1. I am content, although wish it was more. When you have a lot of weight to lose, like I do, you hope for the upper part of that 8-15 pounds that the book touts. I didn't really give it my all, though. I did eat a squeaky clean Phase 1, but I didn't exercise much.
My goal for this week is to workout at least 3 days (I had a great workout on Monday, so I need 2 more). This is my last week of work before summer break, so starting next week, I plan to workout at least 5 days per week.
Being on phase 2 has been great so far. I added 1 fruit and 1 starch per day. I missed fruit! I can't wait until next week where, assuming I have any loss this week, I'll add another serving! It's also good being able to have cereal on those mornings where I just don't feel like cooking eggs! |
