First, don't think of it as a diet. You will fall off the wagon alot. Think of it as a NEW "way of life". You want to be healthier. You want to live longer. You WANT to look good.
Second, set a date AND an amount of weight to lose. I weighed 205, I want to be within my BMI. I have pre diabetes, pre high blood pressure and I have an awesome husband and two teenagers who will need me years from now. Write the date on your bathroom mirror, on your computer desktop, on your car window or fold down visor mirror.
Third, Print off Phase 1 or 2 from the internet. Make two copies. Keep one copy at home, one at work and one with you where ever you go. Always look at it, when you are eating out, or at work, or at home. It will help you choose the right foods.
Fourth, GET RID OF THE JUNK. I have two teenagers in the house, so that is more difficult said than done. They drink diet soda w/0 everything. They eat my jello and cool whip, they eat my mesquite chicken. Then eat my asian vegetables, they eat my fruit, because they can't find anything better to eat. They won't starve. Dad takes them for a junk food run now and then. They are surviving.
After Phase 1, I had no craving. I am a choc-a-holic. I don't even crave chocolate. It was nothing for me to eat an entire DOVE chocolate bar. I don't even desire to have one.
But be faithful for just two weeks. Reward yourself. Give yourself $50 if you lose 15 pounds in two months. That is what I did. And I spent it on a new pair of pants, one size smaller than what I usually wear. The awesome thing, I didn't even need to try them on, I knew they would fit.
Good Luck! |
