| Bear with me - I may have a lot of silly questions as I ease on into P2. Do I peel the banana and weigh it or weigh with the peel on? I read the book, but don't remember if that was mentioned. Was it? Thanks! :) |

I'd take a medium banana, peel it, weigh it and see what ya get! ;) Must admit I've never actually weighed a banana. ;) If I took a SWAG, I'd say peeled. I've never even noticed that there was on oz. amount listed. I thought it just said a medium banana!
greenish yellow, yellow, or yellow/brown will probably make more of a difference glycemically than being a bit larger size-wise. |

| Boy, you're fast RedRock - yup, in one of the books I believe it was mentioned 4oz or medium banana. I love nanners, so I gotta be careful, otherwise I'd go overboard - I like to follow the rules, providing I understand what they are  I'm looking forward to eating healthy for a long, long time! |

I find it easier to follow long term if I don't have to think too much! ;) The P2 food list here says the same thing. 1 med. banana (4 oz).
If you want a challenge, try to figure out walnuts and peanuts! ;) Shelled walnuts always come in halves it seems. So is the count for that many halves, or do you double the halves. Same with peanuts. Peanuts in the shell typically have two nuts. (yes some very special ones have 3 and some have 1) So again is the count for the kind in the shell where you get two? or shelled and you can double the count? or vice versa. ;)
Enquiring minds want to know! |

That's why I gave up on the counting nuts. (Somewhere I read that the numbers are because you're supposed to keep the nuts to an ounce, and that's an average number of each per ounce, is that right?)
But I read on Kalyn's site (http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/) that she just measures a 1/4 cup and counts that as a day's serving. I like that idea - it's close, and much better than the cup or more I used to eat! |

I agree with you, just measure then and they come up close enough.
If you have lots of time in your hands and I have done that too, I have measure pistachios and then count them and guess what? they come exactly to 30  OK some time a little more, but hey, close enough for goverment work  |

yep. 1/4 cup is supposed to be roughly an ounce. I was being a bit silly. ;) If you have a scale and you like to measure things, then go with an ounce. I overeat my nut allowance by a large margin nearly every day, so don't really worry about it. |
