Hi - I'm new to this site and looking for some advice as I go into my fourth week on the Beach. Was wondering if Fiber Gormet Light Whole Wheat Pasta is ok to use on SB? The ingreds are: whole wheat flour, modified wheat starch, wheat glutten. For 2oz uncooked the NI is: 130 Cal, Total fat 1g, Sat fat 0, Trans fat 0, Sodium 120mg, total carb 43g, Dietary Fiber 18g, Sugar 2g, protein 7g. I know I can't have pasta very often. Has anyone ever tried this pasta? If not, could you recommend a good whole wheat brand? I've never used whole wheat pasta before - just the highest fiber ones I could find. Thanks much! :)

looks ok. no enriched flours. not sure why they add the starch and the gluten though. FWIW, we buy the Kroger brand and the only ingredient listed is whole wheat flour. Also a nutritional serving size of grains is 1 oz or 1/2 cup cooked. really not sure if the added starch would make it non-P2 compliant or not though.

thanks for your opinion. Because it has ww flour listed first and it is so high in fiber, I was hoping it would be ok, in moderation, of course. :D

well it's going to be higher fiber than a true plain ww pasta, that's for sure! Which I guess is why they are adding stuff in to bump up the fiber, perhaps for the "net/effective carb" folks or for those like you that just look for higher fiber options.

"Wheat starch" is essentially the same thing as white flour-- just the starchy insides of the grain with none of the fiber and vitamins of the bran and wheat germ.

I don't see how 18g of fiber is possible with that ingredient list. Wheat starch is, well, starch, and the gluten is protein.

I wouldn't eat it. Trader Joe's has great house brand pastas in various shapes. Only ingredient is whole durum wheat. That's how it should be.
