Just wanted to do a quick check - are these waffles okay?

Van's Organic Flax Waffles,
Ingredients: Whole wheat flour (unbleached & organic), organic soybean oil, organic pear juice concentrate, organic flax meal, baking powder, sea salt, organic soy isoflavins, organic soy lecithin.

I found them at my local grocery and they are really pretty good. I thought I would ask here before I get any more, though.

That's "pear juice concentrate," I guess. It's hard to know how much is in there, though - less than the soybean oil but more than the flax meal, baking powder, and salt. Just a thought, but I would examine them against the cereal guidelines and see how they compare. The cereal guidelines say at least 5g of fiber and no more than 8g of sugars per serving.

it's likely that one waffle is larger than a serving of grain

According to the nutrition facts on the box a serving size is 2 waffles (they're as big as an Eggo waffle).

290 calories
11g fat (0 trans & 1.5 sat)
O cholesterol
290mg sodium
Total carb 26g
Dietary fiber 6g
Sugar 4g
Protein 6g

Anyway, We certainly aren't eating these every day - it is a nice sub for real waffles on occasion.

Thank you both for responding.

The serving, as it should be for SB (not according to the package), is 30g. So check the label and see how much it says 2 waffles ["1 serving" in their words] is.

You can also make your own. There are recipes in the recipe summary.

And as always, it's your choice!
