Hi I came across this site and I have to say it has been a eye opener for me. You guys offer so much support and information. I am very excited to be here and even though I am new to SB,I know it will have my questions answered if I have any,.
A little about me. I am a mother of 2 . We dealt with a long battle of cancer so Thats when I had started to gain my weight. To make a long story short I yo-yoed on diets for years. Some diets that were actually straving yourself. At the end of the day I not only gain the weight back I lost but even more. I am now at a weight which is the biggest I have ever been. I have often asked myself.. How in the world did I ever let myself get here. I quit smoking which is still a struggle at time so yeah I ate to try and fill that avoid but I think a part of me just gave up years ago. I now have hope finding you guys and reading your storys and your success that I too can do this. I am hoping that at some point I too will be sharing my success.
I have a long road ahead of me 165 lbs i need to lose but I didn't put it on over night so it won't leave over night either. OK enough rambling. I start tomorrow 5-12-08. So I will be here posting daily how I feel.

Good for you! I can sense your enthusiasm....be sure to hold onto that as you begin your weight loss journey, because it really does help especially if you hit a stall.

I know it might seem overwhelming at first - but, you should check out the Before/After Pictures forum here, because lots of people with a lot to lose have had huge successes on this plan! Sometimes it takes a while, others lose it much faster, but it can be done! Whenever I need some motivation, I check out those pics.

All the best, be sure to take advantage of the support and resources of this forum! My journal is around here somewhere too, feel free to check it out!

My son is 17 and is a big dude. He is almost 6 foot and 315 lbs. He is a wreastler and has to get his weight down before it starts up again.
Yes i saw those before and afters and OMG what a amazing transformation. I think that is what hasmade me feel so good about the SB. It is a bit confusing but I think I will get the hang of making sure I have everything in our menu. Trial and error but we will get there. :D

he's young and he's healthy. I would make sure he has enough dairy (3 servings in phase 2) an make sure he has good starchy veggies (sweet potato is a good one) and a couple of pieces of fruit (apple or banana are good ones) every day.

basically young healthy men need to cut out the junk. I bet if he cuts out the processed stuff and sticks to a healthy phase 2 plan he can drop weight in a new york minute.

if he likes those things then by all means I would

if he's young and he's active he will need way more food than you will to sustain himself. we tend to forget that the bigger guys need more food...

Well Im home from work and I did great today. I do feel a tad sick to my tummy but nothing to bad. Hubby said he feels sick. He isn't much of a veggie eater and he thought he could do the green beans with every meal but he said the thought of another green bean and he would be sick. I dunno what I am gonna do but Im sure we will figure it out. Son said he did ok but was hungry so I think I will do what was suggested and give him more and add in the fruit. So all in all I think it was a good day.
Today at work they were celebrating a BDay and had cake. I never thought twice about it. I blocked it out of my mind. I did however want chocolate BAD!! But I didn't cave in. I had a pieceof sugarless gum. lol I am now gonna try and make something different for snack to change it up abit. :)

Wow, sounds like you had a good first day.

Don't let the tummy upsetness get you down. I had that for the first 4 days, today I am on day 5 and this was the first day that I didn't wake up with a headache and feeling nauseous. It's a great feeling to know I made it through that and you can too!

It's great that your family is doing it with you, my hubby is doing it with me too. :)

Also I think you and I have to loss about the same amount of weight.

Good luck!!

Well day 3 and doing great. Hubby tried v-8 wasn't crazy about it but dealt with it. He also tried fresh fish for the 1st time and loved it. I never thought he would eat anything but Mrs.Pauls. Now we will eatting fish 3 times a week. Son is doing great also. I have been trying new recipes and they are turly yummy. I have not portioned our food. I figured I can do that after we are started. I just wanted to see how we were eatting and how much. So far so good and I am loving it. First day I did miss my chocolate but I didn't cave. 2nd day not thought of it. 3rd day I kinda wanted my coke. I always had 1 day and now nothing. I did have a diet coke but I sure don't like it. I weighted myself this morning and I have lost 4lbs. I know its water weight but gawd what a great feeling. Well off to bed. work early. Post more tomorrow. :D
