I've been involved with a few different dieting ideas and most of them say to avoid caffeine. I think the book Skinny b**** explained it best when they said it was just an addiction. It increases blood pressure and if I remember correctly it does something with calcium extraction and can be a factor in osteoporosis.
That being said, I still drink my coffee regular and have a sugar-free Red Bull every once in a while. There's only so much you can give up in life.[/i] |

minocqua, wi: I like the diet, How important is it to switch to decaf coffee?
Dr. Arthur Agatston: While caffeine can increase insulin production by the pancreas, recent studies of coffee have shown no adverse effects on blood sugar or insulin and may even help prevent diabetes. Because of this recent study we have liberalized our approach to coffee. If you drink coffee and enjoy it, then continue. Just moniter your response to it and make sure that it does not cause cravings.
