Okay I just started yesterday and I have a few questions:

1) I drink whey protein shakes- I like them and the fill me up- I think I can have them as a snack- but I looked at the ingredients and they listed "fructose" Is that bad?

2I have lean turkey patties that contain 7g of fat, 2g of which are sat fat, are those allowed? How about turkey sausage?

3) I read in the ingrediants of my fat-free mozarella cheese and fat-free cheddar cheese that they contain "potato starch to prevent something or other" is that bad?

1.) yes. protein shakes do not qualify as "real food" which is a rather basic tenet of the SB program, and if they add sugars/fructose to it, then probably not a good idea either. Some other SB boards say yes to the protein shakes, but they are generally frowned upon on this one. here are some recent and semi-recent discussions on the topic if you care to read them.

2.) What size are they in total gms? If made from turkey breast and are 90% lean, they should be fine. Assuming around a 100 gm patty those would meet the guidelines for lean proteins identified in the P1 food list. The food list also has this for turkey sausage:
Low-fat turkey sausage (3-6 grams of fat per 60 gram serving)
So if it meets that then they are fine.

3.) I personally would switch to a low fat cheese that typically has fewer added "things" to make up for the lack of fat. The guideline does say LF or FF, so guess it would be OK probably because there is not much of it in there.

As always the FAQ threads that are stickied at the top of each of the main forums have links to a wealth of previous threads here with lots of good information about the program. Well worth it to spend some time reviewing some of those most basic links like the food lists and meal planning guidelines.
