I am 5'2" and I'm also a senior with 10 # more to lose! I lost only 2.5 # during phase 1, depressing but I was also happy for the loss!
This is my first year of seeing that I cannot eat much before the scale turns on me ( getting old  !)
Because I am short, and/or older maybe that is why it is so hard for me to lose.
I am wondering if maybe I should not be eating quite so much as is stated in this diet. My thought is that a small woman does not need all the food SBD mentions compared to say a 6' man.
Is there a list of food amounts based on sex, age, and height?
Hope to hear from others like me![/b] |

Maybe you should eat smaller portions, those numbers are really just estimations. It's the same with any nutrition guidance, they don't seem to take into account that people really come in different sizes.
And don't feel bad about you phase 1 weight loss, it's still good! The fact that you don't have horrific amount of weight to lose could also account for why you're not losing it as rapidly as some are.
It's just like when a big person runs for 10 minutes he will burn more calories than if a small person does the same. The bigger you are, the easier the pounds come off, because you have more excess baggage. If you're already quite small, your daily calorie intake is lower (the energy needed to maintain weight) and it's harder to cut down on something, when there's not that much of it to begin with.
Hope this helps! |

| I'm under 20# to lose as well, which I find difficult. I have found that in phase 2 I'm not eating the quantities of food I was in phase 1. But I still follow the guidelines of the WOE - 2.5 cups of veggies each day, only 2 starches, 1 fruit for me at this point. But even this amount has drastically impacted the amount of protein that I've been eating - which is probably a good thing lol. I think as long as we eat to satisfy our actual hunger and not appetite or cravings we should self regulate at our needs - or at least that's my prayer LOL. BTW I'm 5'2" as well and every inch and pound makes a huge difference at this stature! |

Do you recommend that everyone on SBD have 4 1/2 cups of veggies every day? I have cut my V8 in the morning down to 4 oz, I had 6 oz in phase 1.
This is day 5 of phase 2 for me and so far no cravings. I have fruit almost every day now, but only 1/2 at a time, tried orange, grapefruit and apple with no problem, the only grain I've had is sourdough toast ( yah, I read it was removed from the allowed food list, but I do like it, had a half slice at breakfast today ) so far so good too!
Thanks for all the help! |

I don't recommend anything. it's REQUIRED on this plan that you have 4.5 cups of veggies (raw) per day. you would be amazed how much mushrooms and spinach cook down...
2 cups of raw spinach is probably 1/2 cup cooked. |

| I' 5'2", also! I don't currently have a scale, so I have no idea how much weight I have to lose. But, from the way my clothes are fitting, i would say i'm at least 10-15 pounds more than I was in january, and about 5 more still from where I was after south beach last summer. Or maybe it's just in inches...who knows. Either way, it's actually nice not having a scale because I'm not constantly freaking out. All I know is that things have gotten smaller (from what I can tell in photos) since I started SBD on April 23rd, and clothes have gotten a little bigger. Can button pants and still have them be uncomfortably tight, but not as bad at all as they were a couple of weeks ago. But i also started exercising, so I honestly may have lost no weight in phase 1 but still lost in terms of my size. tbh, size is all i care about...the number means nothing to me! |

im also 5'3 and have less than 20 to lose. i want to get to 140 or so but even that would be amazing. 145 is fine too.
i started almost 2 months ago and with all my ups and downs (look at my journal for more details...) i only lost 4.7 lbs total. i also only lost ~ 3 lbs on phase 1 but i felt so much better and felt more energy.
I'm trying to up my exercise since i bought this fancy $1000 elliptical and if i dont use it , why did i buy it? i feel so good after i exercise.
bottom line, i think the less you have to lose, the slower it comes off
let's encourage and help each other out. |

| I figure out most of the abbreviations y'all use, but what is WOE? I've been wondering that since I first came here. |

diet.
we can say diet.
what you were eating before you were on SBD was your diet then.
diet just means how you eat.... |
