I keep reading that BACON isn't allowed, but "Canadian Bacon" IS allowed...
What's the difference? I'm in UK - is our bacon significantly different to US bacon? Is US bacon more like UK "ham"? Is Canadian bacon more like UK "back" bacon?
I just can't eat turkey bacon - the stuff here in UK is just so processed and upsets my stomach...REAL UK "bacon" seems more natural to me...

| back bacon or peameal bacon is the UK equivalent of canadian bacon in the US. Think lean breakfast ham really. Your streaky bacon is what we think of as "bacon" here. fatty pork bellies no good. pork back is ok! ;) |

THANK YOU REDROX! *kisses* I LOVE my "back" bacon, and was grumpy that I couldn't "spice" up my foods with it
What is the limit per day please? Thanks! |

Really? That surprises me -- reading the guidelines, I thought it would be unlimited. How do you tell how much a "piece" is? Instead of buying a brick of c-bacon, I bought packages of little slices (intended as pizza toppings) on discount. |

I just read the forum P1 food guidelines, and I sort of agree with you - there's no limit on Canadian bacon, apart from the limitations of what you should initially consume (and go back for seconds) in the meal guidelines...
Example: I could have 2 oz for breakfast, 3 oz for lunch and 3 oz for dinner, and go back for more if I was still hungry...

| I may be wrong, but I think Nessa is quoting the turkey bacon guideline. This has now been removed, though (for some reason - I can't quite tell why.) There's no listed limit on Canadian bacon (aka back bacon), except as you say you'd normally eat one serving of meat, then have more later if you want. |

Ah, thanks :)
(I can't imagine who would want to eat "unlimited" quantities of that plastic turkey bacon, though! ) |
