To expand on what Debby said, even if it was "approved" bacon (like turkey or canadian bacon - which I believe both are limited in some way)... that would count as protein, not fat. Debby listed some of the fats.

You can combine good fats -- i.e. half an avocado serving and half another good fat serving. However full fat dressing with good fats is a good choice as far as SB goes.

And you still need adequate protein with that salad.

ETA: and just to clarify - the emphasis is on GOOD fats here (since this is about good fats and good carbs). Bacon doesn't have good fats, therefore it does not count. The good fats plus adequate protein plus veggies, etc... is why this diet works. The combination keeps you full/satisfied longer and keeps your blood sugar stable. And you gotta make sure you're getting enough calories. Too little (just like too many) calories is not good.

I'm reading the book published in 2003. It doesn't say much about bacon. It's not on the list of foods to enjoy nor on the foods to avoid. On page 45, it says..

"Even the bacon's not so terrible, so long as you don't overdo it."

So, I'm thinking a strip of bacon ever once in a while isn't going to hurt. In fact, I'm a little worred that I'm loosing too fast. Today is my 6th day on phase 1 and I've lost 8.5 pounds. Hey, I'm certainly not complaining here!

I have to admit I haven't really read anything other than the book published in 2003 so that's what I'm going by. I haven't read any threads other than a few threads on this forum. For the most part, I've been fairly strict on everything that the book has said with the exception of caffeinne. I have cut way, way back on caffeiene, but I haven't cut it out entirety. This is certainly not say that I haven't ate someone accidently that I shouldn't have eaten. I've tried really hard.

Getting back to the Kraft salad dressing...I love it. However, when I'm at home, I make my own out of the recipe in the book. It's wonderful as well.

Enjoying very occasional bacon as suggested in the book is a quite a bit different than mistaking it for a source of good fats, however! I hope you see that.

I firmly believe that having a good understanding of the plan is crucial to making it work longterm. And if it doesn't work longterm, it doesn't work.

FWIW, Bacon was added to the list of foods to avoid with the new supercharged book.
