April 28 marked day 1 of my re-commitment to South Beach. I have previously lost about 50 lbs following the plan - from 330 to 270 lbs. That was from October 2005 to May 2006. Between then & now I followed the plan most of the time, but I had enough indescretions that my weight crept back up to 324. It's been about 6 weeks since I last really watched what I eat. At that time Phase 1 lasted about a week, with a slow descent into eating anything that looked good. Actually, that cycle was repeated over a dozen times during the previous 2 years. Nonetheless, I will make this work.

I am 33 years old, married to a supportive wife and proud papa to a girl that just turned 3 and a boy who's sitting at 20 months. I can't keep up to them. I want to be around for the next 50 years to be with them.

Progress so far? May 5, day 8, I weighed in at 311. That is a 13 lb loss. FANTASTIC! but not surprising given how badly I was eating the week before.
During the past week, I followed the plan perfectly, turning down cake, alcohols, cookies, etc. My only cheat was one Dad's oatmeal CC cookie.

I'm going to stay on Phase I for the full two weeks, just to make sure I'm stable and cravings are gone. I won't have any problems. The problems historically have crept in after the switch to Phase II.

I feel better and stronger about this plan than I ever have in the past couple years. One major factor is reading Dr A's Heart program. It taught me a lot and motivated me to make some permanent changes while I still have time.

B 1 cup vanilla FF yogurt
S: 20 almonds
L: 1 cup chili (beef, lots of beans & veggies)
S: broccoli, cauli & hummus
D: not sure yet (Last night had grilled boneless pork loin chops - very lean, and grilled veggies)
