HI Everyone,
I am on Week 3 of the SBD.. and I was so happy. I had lost 8 lbs on the P1. I started P2 yesterday. stepped on the scale this AM and I gained 2 lbs?????
the only difference I made was an apple with a little peanut butter.
I feel like whatever I do.. I can never get this weight off!
Here is my usual meals:
breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs.. with cheese and sometimes red or green pepper
Lunch- Salad with olives, cheese, or cottage cheese. and turkey meatballs on the side
Dinner. salad, same as above.. and whatever meat we are having like chicken or turkey breast etc.
snack usually split up my nut allowance into 2 snacks a day.
I must be lacking somewhere? that I gained weight??? ugh! |

| Nope-very typical. Hang in there it works. Stalls occur as you slowly make changes and it will steady out. If you string clean days together you will lose 1-2 pounds a week. Been there!!!! |

It sounds to me that you need a lot more veggies. I don't know what all is in the salads, but iceberg lettuce has almost no nutritional value. Mixed greens are better, but still aren't going to give you all the nutrients you need. You should have lots of other veggies cut up and added in there as well, and maybe a side dish of veggies also. You're eating almost all protein, which has more calories, and will make you feel full, but won't keep you losing.
Also, are you making the turkey meatballs? Most of the pre-made ones are full of fillers that could be causing problems - breadcumbs and such.
Don't be depressed - we're all going through this, and we'll help you out! |

olives are a fat
cheese can be a diet buster and i see it 3 times in your daily menu
it's normal for folks to gain a little bit when they add fruits and grains back.
salad is not always the best veggie esp if it's iceberg lettuce... and you do seem light on veggies |

Also, if you make the turkey meatballs, make sure it's gound turkey breast, not just ground turkey (which can be just as bad as some beef cuts).
It's really too early to be jumping on the scale (unless you can do it without reacting to what the scale says). Please see the FAQ link on "why did I gain weight when I first started p2." |

What I am having every day is milk and some kind of beans, like kidney, navy, lima, etc. Have you tried any beans? I like the lima beans cold right out of the can, dh likes them that way too; they are very good in a salad .
Good Luck and stay off that scale! Maybe step on it once a week 8) |

| DO NOT weigh everyday. It is hard for all of us but, our daily weight fluctuates for many reasons. You know how you feel. You are doing everything right. I love this reminder: it didn't happen overnight, it won't go away overnight. Be patient, it beats giving up! You are on track to a healthy lifestyle and a healthy weight. |

Thank you so much everyone for the support!! I am still sticking to it without cheating.. AND i am going to stop weighing my self everyday.
I think some of my problem is I like to graze.. I am not much of a 3 meal a day person.
Is that going to limit the weight I lose?
Thanks everyone again you are all so great!!!!!
ps.. my salads were greens .. not iceberg  |

You're allowed to have snacks - in fact thay are encouraged! You need to keep your blood sugar level, so eating throughout the day is fine, as long as you're eating the correct amounts of things. Grazing on veggies with a little protein is fine. Grazing on nuts all day is not!
I know I like to snack, so I plan smaller meals with more snacks some days. Today I brought my breakfast casserole and my leftover indian food for my tow main meals. Those each have a cup of veggies in them. I also have a cup of mushrooms, a cup of celery, hummus, a cheese stick, pickles, almonds, and cottage cheese to snack on throughout the day. I'll make sure to finish the mushrooms and celery before I leave. I may not eat everything else, but if I do, I'm still ok! |

I'm not depressed, I'm mad. I had two meals off plan, and I'm not talking about big meals - I'm talking about one slice of pizza, about a half cup of white rice, and three or four bites of chocolate cake. It took me two months to lose two pounds, and two meals to gain five.
This is insane. |

the only way to gain a pound of fat is to consume a surplus of 3500 calories. to gain five pounds of fat requires a surplus of 17500 calories. all you gain by eating a single piece of pizza or a serving of rice is water. |

Well, that may be true, but according to popular opinion around here, all I lost in P1 was water.
Either way, water or fat or muscle, my scale is moving in the wrong direction. |

It doesn't take two months to lose 2lbs of water. You could guzzle lemon water and watch your sodium and lose that overnight. It's time to post menus and quantities if you haven't done that already...because something is not right. |
