hi there! new to this and phase one, i keep hearing that phase one is ZERO carbs BUT as i read the allowed foods list and check the nutrition i see its really not zero carbs but very low, almost all the veggies that they say are allowed have some carbs, very low but some. so i am confused as to the zero carbs when the allowed list has foods with carbs, so in reality is it really just super low carbs??
thanks for any help!:) |

It is not about low carbs at all. We choose good carbs. |

| You're listening to the wrong people! ;) Most people understand very little about this program until you get into it and start living it. It's very easy to construct a P1 menu with 70-90 gms of total carbs and some "high carb" foods like milk, yogurt and beans/legumes are very much encouraged in P1 to keep energy levels up and avoid ketosis. Once you get into P2 and start adding 2-3 servings of both fruit and whole grains/starchy veggies each (slowly over time) those numbers go up even more. SB got linked with Atkins in the popular press and there are a lot of misperceptions about what it is really about. It's not even a "no sugars" plan either as many of the foods that are allowed and recommended have naturally occuring sugars as well. |

| Yep, anyone who says that simply has no idea what they're talking about! It isn't zero carbs or even super low carbs. It's lowER than the typical American diet, but you see where that's getting us-- it obviously isn't healthy. This is just about bringing things back into balance where it should be. |
