Hi, everyone. I'm a newbie to this forum, but not a newbie to the Diet. i did it several years ago and had such great results. but then, of course, i "fell off the wagon" and gained it all back. i had lost just over 40 lbs. and looked sooooooooooo good! why would i be stupid and fall like that? it was the best i had looked in YEARS. well, i did. and now i'm SO READY to jump back on again.
i didn't have the support of a site before. just me. i'm hoping maybe this time, talking to others will help me keep on track. i'm so tired of looking awful!
i am 4'10 1/2. i weigh right at 200. :( it's awful. i had 3 kids in 3 1/2 yrs (a long time ago), and never lost that baby fat. before i had them, i had the cutest body. but, i was too busy raising babies more or less on my own, that i didn't take care of myself.
i'm not at my heaviest right now, but i'm so scared i'm heading that way again. my heaviest - several yrs ago - was about 230. that was AWFUL!!!!
so, i am just looking for help to remind me what the cans and can'ts are for Phase 1. i remember having eaten a lot of eggs during that phase. but i'm on the go constantly now - more than before - with work.
are diet shakes (slimfast) okay to use? i love those and have no problem drinking those instead of eating in the mornings.
any help would be soooo appreciated!
thanx and i hope to make new friends fast here! |

Real food is always best so no the shakes are generally discouraged here. The quiche cups in the original book can be made ahead and "nuked" for a quick breakfast in the mornings and there are lots of other good ideas in the Recipe Summary sticky thread here in the Recipe and Food forum.
A good place to start are the P1 and P2 FAQ threads which are "stickied" at the tops of those discussion forums here and there are links to them in the FAQ sticky thread near the top of this forum as well.
Start your review with the current P1 foods to enjoy lists and the link to the meal planning template thread (how to adapt your meal plan) as those will give you the basics for diving back in!! good luck! |

Hi, Angelfly. Good for you!!! Go for it!!
The first two weeks are supposed to be the worse. I didn't find that to be true. By the time I got to Phase 2, I was relieved not to have to have snacks because it seemed that one meal was running into another. I wasn't hungry at all and had absolutely no cravings. That's true to this day. I've been on SB since the end of February, beginning of March and have lost 15 lbs. It doesn't seem like much, but believe me, it is.
Read your Phase 1 food list carefully. And read the book if you haven't already done so.
But the biggest help of all is these forums. The people are great and so helpful. YOU GO GIRL!!! |

Hi! Don't beat yourself up too bad, I think it's very difficult to stick with any major lifestyle change without a lot of support.
As for the shakes - I can totally relate. On mornings that I don't feel like eating I will make a peanut butter milkshake (a southbeach diet one that is made of ricotta cheese). I don't know if it's a great idea for breakfast but it works for me & is technically ok on SBD. |
